Job Summary
This role is an active member of the access team and works to welcome patient families to Children's Medical Group for appointment scheduling following the scheduling modules and serves as liaison between patient families and the clinic. This position reports to the CMG Contact Center Supervisor and collaborates with the Regional Access Specialist and clinic leadership for optimal outcomes.

Essential Functions

  • Provides exceptional patient experience by assisting patients, parents, providers and other staff, providing access services following scheduling modules and Patient Experience Promise.

  • Utilizes EPIC scheduling applications and work queues to facilitate appointment scheduling, wait list management, reschedule list, cancelled appointments, registration work queues, patient communication/texting platform and In Basket Review.

  • Support registration of patients and/or legal guardians with a MyChart account and access.

  • Secures appropriate release of information authorization; maintains HIPPA compliance.

  • Enters all registration information accurately and completely per Appointment Scheduling Module and Complete Registration Document.

  • This includes obtaining demographics, proper consent, insurance cards/information, as applicable, etc.

  • Ensures entire checklist is completed.

  • Maintains proficiency with EPIC and other applications or competencies as required.

  • Responsible for understanding and adhering to the Children’s Organizational Code of Ethics and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations and laws applicable to Children's business.

 

Education:

  • High School graduate or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) Required

 

Experience:

  • less than 1 year related work experience in a healthcare setting Preferred

  • Related work experience within a contact/call center setting Preferred

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of medical terminology, medical menu software, medical billing, patient scheduling and business office procedures preferred.

  • Requires excellent interpersonal skills in order to assist patients, parents, and physicians and other staff.

  • Requires good concentration skills in order to serve a variety of people in a fast paced environment and to handle incoming calls in an efficient and accurate manner.

  • Required flexibility in order to prioritize efforts to meet needs of the patients, parents, physicians and other staff.

  • Ability to work independently with limited in-person oversight while meeting quality metrics and identified measures.

  • Requires the ability to sit for extended period of time while performing duties.

  • May be required to stand for extended periods of time and may be required to lift up to 25 pounds.

  • Ability to assist and support other primary care locations as requested by leaders and/or the Children’s Medical Group float policy.
