Position Overview: Are you an engineering generalist with a passion for embedded systems development? At ATL, you will work on a variety of projects that challenge your skills and offer opportunities for growth and learning. Your role will involve working on small, focused development teams to convert scientific principles into real-world applications, helping to shape the future of Defense technology.
We are seeking a Research Engineer for our Eagan, MN facility with an ability to obtain a security clearance. As an engineer at ATL, your day-to-day responsibilities vary based on the needs of our programs. We pride ourselves in the flexibility we give to our engineers to pursue research that is of interest to them and give opportunities for engineers to grow and learn about what others in the lab are doing. Based on our current needs, your skills and the skills you wish to acquire, you could be tasked with any of the following:
- Develop embedded processing algorithms and systems for military applications.
- Perform lab testing and integration of high performance ruggedized photonic and fiber optic systems.
- Conduct modeling and simulation to validate concepts and guide designs.
- Engage in electrical and/or software design for advanced digital, RF/analog receivers, transmitters, antennas, and jam/anti-jam systems.
- Design, code, and test software for state-of-the-art communication systems.
- Support research projects to innovate and create new solutions for complex challenges.
- Participate in large-scale field tests across various environments (ground, sea, air) on commercial and military platforms.
- Assist in business development by crafting modern solutions to customer problems.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field, with 5 years of professional experience; or 3 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree.
- Experience with FPGA design using VHDL and/or Verilog/SystemVerilog in Altera Quartus and/or Xilinx Vivado design and synthesis software.
- Experience with embedded systems software programming in C, C++, or Python.
- Willingness to work in a dynamic environment with varying day-to-day tasks.
- Interim Secret Clearance with ability and willingness to obtain a security clearance to at least the Secret level.
- Good team working and collaboration skills.
Desired Skills:
- Hands-on lab experience with electronics, photonics, and/or high-frequency RF devices.
- Proficiency with electrical design and simulation tools such as Cadence, Mentor, or similar software.
- Experience with electrical circuit analysis tools like SPICE or equivalent.
- Digital circuit design experience.
- Familiarity with source code management tools such as Git or similar.
- Experience with modeling tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, or LabVIEW.
- Theoretical or practical experience with analog or digital RF systems design and modeling.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $89,300 - $157,550. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
