  • Hackensack Meridian Pascack Valley Medical Center is a 128-bed, full-service, acute-care community hospital with a new emergency department, a state-of-the-art maternity center, a women's imaging center, and an ICU

Responsibilities

  • The Receptionist provides a superior level of secretarial duties and reception services to the doctor, patients, and staff.
  • Enters, maintains, and reports all medical history using the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
  • Updates all patient files and makes sure documents are accurate, confidential, and compliant.
  • Greets, check-in and checks out patients, and advises other medical staff of the arrival of patients.
  • Assists in maintaining inventory of necessary supplies and all instruments.
  • Schedules appointments, follows up with no-call - no-call-no-shows, and the discharge of patients.
  • Answers inbound calls to the practice, as well as greets vendors and sets vendor appointments.
  • Conveys messages in writing, electronically, and verbally.
  • Maintains Physicians' calendars, prepares doctors' notes (return to work, school, or leave notices), and all other correspondence as directed.
  • Scans, files, and faxes documents, as well as prepares and sorts mail.
  • Ensures the waiting and reception areas are kept orderly and clean, and will report on any damage to furniture, supplies, or equipment.
  • Acts as a liaison with patients, referrals, general practitioners, health care professionals, and patients' family members in a compassionate and kind manner.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED.

  • Higher education may be substituted for experience.

  • 1+ years' experience in a hospital or physician practice setting.

  • Basic to intermediate EMR knowledge.

  • Basic to intermediate Microsoft Office knowledge.

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in a related field of study.

Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education, and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
