Job Purpose
The Quality Control Supervisor will supervise quality personnel to drive the quality leading KPIs improvement and to ensure Product Quality and customer satisfaction. They will also manages the processes and team to ensure that the products delivered to the customer meet the agreed quality standards. Maintains and deploys the ALPS Quality Management System, assesses its adequacy, and proactively improves it. Conducts internal audits.
Key Responsibilities
- Manages the processes related to the raw materials and final batch testing of all relevant products by using standard (quality) procedures to meet specifications.
- Coordinates all QC resources to ensure internal and external customer needs are met.
- Ensures processes and standards are in place, and followed by QC employees to ensure the number of batch adjustments/hits are kept to an optimal level. Manages the escalation process if RFT and adjustments/hits go beyond a certain level.
- Promotes the quality system within the team, adhering to the elements and being familiar with the philosophy, quality statement, quality manual and procedures
- Ensures retained sample control and administration including related document collection, filing and disposal.
- Ensures that technical information is maintained and verification / calibration procedures are in place
- Liaises with RD&I to ensure New Product Introduction procedures are followed
- Promotes, develops and implements quality assurance procedures and systems to improve and maintain quality within manufacturing
- Ensures that all manufacturing employees are thoroughly familiar with the philosophy, quality statement, quality manual, and are trained in the appropriate procedures.
- Maintains quality equipment by monitoring performance, calibration and conducting preventive maintenance.
- Supports customer audits and internal audits, and ensure team works to the (e.g. ISO) implement quality standards and systems.
- Supports in the process to maintain quality certifications (e.g. ISO).
- Generates quality information by preparing required reports and maintaining relevant records.
- Provides assistance, gives advice and distributes information to customers, suppliers, sales and internal departments related to product quality.
- Actively deploys ALPS foundations and ALPS Quality Management primary processes, with high priority. Promotes the quality philosophy throughout the organization by setting a positive example and positively participating in cross-functional problem solving activities.
- Is familiar and complies with all the applicable corporate as well as site and laboratory policies/procedures with regard to personal conduct, HSE and Product Safety & Regulatory Affairs (PSRA) standards.
Level of Autonomy
- Supervisor will determine when to scrap a batch, how to fix a batch and whether or not to use a raw material or reject. These are large monetary decisions that will be made on own. Supervisor will be submitting claims to suppliers. Some of these decisions will have to be made quickly, some not so quick. Sometimes the call comes after hours, in the middle of the night. This person is responsible for 3 shifts of workers.
- The supervisor will be responsible for hiring/pay and termination (in conjunction with HR). Basically, the person will have full autonomy of the staff and decisions related to the job.
- Supervisor will be submitting proposals for capital equipment, managing the budget including OT spend, lab supply spend. These decisions will be made in a few days time, because they need proper vetting, especially for large purposes.
- Proactively manages costs.
- Reports on progress on a continuous base.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree required or
- 5+ years of production/manufacturing/quality experience
- Knowledge of quality assurance lab activities and procedures, technical knowledge of coatings
- Supervisor skills 5+ years
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power point, SharePoint, and SAP
Benefits/Rewards
The salary range for these skills is: $89,000 to $99,000. This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This salary range may also be modified in the future.
