About the Role

Title: QA Manager

Location: Warsaw Masovian Voivodeship PL

Type: Full-time

Workplace: Hybrid remote

Job Description:

About the company

Testronic is a long-established supplier of outsourced QA to video games developers. Our key clients include some of the biggest “AAA” studios in the industry. Many customers are based in North America, but we also serve a good number of, usually smaller, studios in Europe. With a total headcount of 2000 people, we operate out of three main offices: New Orleans, Warsaw and Manila, with the latter two locations operating two shifts each.

Although the scope of our operations has varied over time, we are now focused on Functional QA (FQA) as our core competency where we provide high value-add to our customers.

Most of our work is, of necessity, done in-office because of the stringent information security requirements of the majority of our customers. At the same time, we collaborate with clients and colleagues in multiple locations and time zones. So your meetings will be a mix of face-to-face and Microsoft Teams.

About the role

As one of four QA Managers in our Warsaw office, you will lead a team of approximately 100 QA Technicians based in that location. Working in close alignment with your colleagues, you will help us continually improve the quality of the services we deliver. You will ensure we are sharing best practices across the teams, and will be hands-on in mentoring and coaching those under you. You will play a central part in ensuring that we hire, train, develop and retain the best people we can.

We need someone who is experienced with managing QA teams (not necessarily in the video games industry, though this would be a plus). It would help if you have some experience with outsourcing, but it is much more important that you have a solid grasp of software engineering best practice.

Customers have a positive perception of our QA teams and like their responsive can-do attitude. We want to build on this to strengthen our FQA offering so that it goes beyond “doing the requested tasks” to be more proactive and targeted at adding value. Besides having a passion for playing the games they are working on, our testers need to understand the way developers think and work so that we can deliver a service that meets or exceeds their expectations.

Our larger customers like to see all sorts of statistics that measure performance – and of course we use such indicators ourselves to help focus our efforts on continuous improvement. But the acid test is the feedback from the development teams themselves.

Requirements

  • A solid understanding of testing methodologies, test plan organization, and technical requirements, based on hands-on experience as a QA engineer.
  • A clear appreciation of what constitutes good FQA and what makes a successful collaborative relationship between QA and Dev teams.
  • Fluency in English – both written and spoken – to at least CEFR level B2 and ideally to level C1.
  • Excellent communication skills that enable you to discuss technical issues in lay terms whilst retaining clarity and precision.
  • The right to live and work in the EU (we are unable to sponsor visas).
  • Experience managing multiple teams, and in coaching and mentoring managers who work under you.
  • Good understanding of KPI metrics (and their limitations!), plus an ability to present this to customers.
  • Good numeracy and analytical skills, with an appreciation of the difference between data and information.
  • Some familiarity with the basics of information security.
  • A collaborative approach that’s effective in a cross-functional environment with an ability to bring out the best in people; to motivate, communicate and have fun.
  • Experience of the video games industry would be a plus, but is not essential.

Benefits

  • A long-term role with many opportunities to learn, grow, develop and shape the future.
  • Hybrid work model (3 days per week at the office on Poleczki Street, Ursynów).
  • Medical healthcare and Multisport card.
  • International and multicultural environment.
  • Friendly and open-minded teams.
