Full-time, 40 hours per week. Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Opportunities for a hybrid telework schedule may be available after training is completed, provided it is supported by operational needs. Job Summary:
The Division of Pediatric Medical Genetics at the Department of Pediatrics, University of Utah School of Medicine has an immediate opening for a Medical Genetics Clinic Coordinator. The Medical Genetics Clinic Coordinator is responsible for coordinating clinic functions for genetic services offered by the Division of Medical Genetics in the University of Utah School of Medicine. This position is integrated with Primary Children’s Hospital and will access electronic medical records, facilitate referrals and laboratory studies, and track all aspects of related care.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Administratively coordinates all aspects of metabolic services and non-research therapies. This entails responding to medical record messages and answering patient questions with the help of the provider.
- Additional patient related tasks include placing scheduling requests, placing lab orders within and outside the local hospital, helping complete letters of medical necessity, report labs and provider recommendations, email clinic reminders, mail filterer paper to PKU patients, and update patient database.
- Medication related tasks include proposing prescription refills, complete and fax specialty prescription forms, speaking to pharmacies to clarify medications, send SignNow to appropriate provider.
- Communicating with staff in the Newborn Screening Program in the Utah Department of Health and ARUP.
- Work with clinic RN on specialty medication infusions including meeting with pharmaceutical companies that provide medications, help place infusion orders and work with preauthorization team as necessary.
- Provide oversight of all clinic processes, including integration of trainees with the clinic team members, and provision of available clinic resources to support patients, families, and fellow team members.
- Work closely with the Genetics Clinic Coordinator to maintain smooth operations in the Division of Medical Genetics.

Minimum Qualifications
Required
Two years of secretarial experience, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).
Successful completion of medical software training may be required by a certain date within some departments.
Preferred
Two years of experience in a hospital, clinic or laboratory setting.
Patient registration or related field experience.
Preferences
Department Preferences:
- Proficient with word processing and spreadsheet applications, including e-mail, appointment scheduling, registration, and medical records.
- Problem-solving skills.
