We are X-ELIO, a Brookfield-owned company and a global leader in the renewable energy sector; with over 3 GW of renewable projects (solar/BESS) built, we currently operate in 12 countries and have a development pipeline of 12 GW of solar and 14 GW of BESS capacity, and we are looking for you!
Reporting to: VP of Business Development
Based in: Washington D.C., USA
The selected professional will lead and coordinate the development, permitting, interconnection, and feasibility of utility-scale solar and BESS projects, guiding teams and stakeholders to ensure projects meet technical, regulatory, and budgetary objectives.
What will you do?
- Project Oversight: Manage entitlement, interconnection, and permitting for utility-scale solar and BESS projects from signing through Commercial Operations, ensuring adherence to schedules and budgets.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with internal teams to optimize project location, design, and feasibility while coordinating with Construction and Procurement for budget and timeline compliance.
- Problem Solving & Recommendations: Identify and propose solutions for environmental, permit, and interconnection constraints; communicate risks and mitigation strategies to leadership.
- Technical & Economic Evaluation: Assess technical and economic feasibility of projects at various development stages.
- Team & Stakeholder Management: Guide junior developers, manage third-party consultants, and build relationships with permitting authorities, utilities, community members, and other developers.
- Market & Policy Insight: Monitor clean energy trends and policies to inform strategic development recommendations to leadership.
What do we need?
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Business, Planning, Engineering, Real Estate, Finance or similar fields.
- 5 years of project development experience - renewable energy & solar preferred
- Effective computer skills including GIS, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of GIS is a strong plus
- Willing to travel up to 25% of the time
- A valid driving license and passport
