Reporting to the Senior Philanthropic Advisor, the Philanthropic Advisor will serve a key role on the Development and Mobilization team at Global Refuge. The individual will be responsible for developing and implementing a solicitation strategy for a portfolio of major donors and prospective major donors through prospect identification, research, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
The Philanthropic Advisor works closely with Development and Mobilization and Program colleagues. This individual must be comfortable and confident in dealing with all levels of Global Refuge leadership, staff and volunteers. The role will likely be invited to speak in front of public audiences, and comfort and experience with public speaking is preferred.
The Philanthropic Advisor will focus on helping the organization meet its annual revenue goals. Extensive travel and some evening and weekend work may be required.

DUTIES
- Manage a portfolio of major donors and prospective major donors with the goal of securing multiple major gifts, including six-figure gifts, per year.
- Meet monthly and quarterly metrics targets related to donor visits, gifts closed, etc.
- Participate in each step of the donor moves management process including: identification; qualification in partnership with the research team; cultivation; request for support; and prompt follow up, stewardship, and recognition.
- Develop individual donor strategies to secure new gifts, renew and upgrade current gifts.
- Collaborate with the prospect development and research team to enhance relationships.
- Represent the organization to a public audience including with corporate partners, foundations, faith-based communities and other potential funders.
- Participate in departmental portfolio review process and be a partner in maintaining an organized system for donor stewardship by updating constituent records, as appropriate.
- Work closely with the director for major and planned giving to successfully implement the strategies for the major gifts program, including planned and legacy gifts.
- Stay up to date on current trends in philanthropy, especially major and planned gifts; engage in trainings and professional development opportunities as appropriate.
- Commitment to Global Refuge's core mission and values and an ability to model those values in relationship with colleagues and partners; commitment to empowering refugees and migrants.
- Perform other similar and related duties as required or directed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience required; A minimum of three (3) years of development experience, with at least two (2) years of major gifts experience required.
- Basic knowledge of online prospect research tools, Client Relationship Management (CRM) systems such as Salesforce, and donor management software.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with various internal and external constituents.
- Knowledge and experience with Salesforce preferred.
- Excellent relationship building skills, with a proven track record of establishing new relationships between donors and organizations.
- Ability to speak in public including at small gatherings, faith communities, and other public-speaking opportunities.
- Ability to work independently and goal driven.
- Valid drivers license & insurance and/or reliable transportation required for out-of-office travel as required by the position.
- This position can be remote.
- Ability and willingness to travel as needed, up to 50%
