Job Description:
Overview
GDC IT Solutions is currently seeking a Microsoft Cloud Engineer. This is a hybrid opportunity open to PA residents, with 1 day required onsite per week in Harrisburg, PA.
Position Overview
As a Microsoft Cloud Engineer you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting a secure, scalable Microsoft 365 environment. This includes architectural design, tenant configuration, service migrations, security administration, and end-user device management across M365, Microsoft Purview, Defender, Intune, and related technologies. You will also contribute to enterprise-wide risk mitigation efforts and maintain compliance with NIST standards, while participating in on-call support and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities

Design the overall architecture of Microsoft 365 solutions, including tenant configuration and migration of services (email, calendar, collaboration).

Administer and support core M365 applications such as Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Entra ID.

Deploy and configure security policies using Microsoft 365 Security Center, Entra ID conditional access, and Microsoft Defender solutions.

Create and manage complex custom PowerShell scripts for automation and administration tasks.

Maintain and troubleshoot moderate to complex M365-related issues, ensuring system stability and adherence to security best practices (e.g., STIGs).

Manage user, mailbox, and system configurations to ensure optimal M365 operations.

Assist in managing systems for building, deploying, and updating desktop OS and software, including hybrid and modern endpoint management platforms like Intune and MECM.

Guide end-user image configuration and assist in endpoint policy design for Windows, Mac, and iOS devices.

Maintain detailed documentation (architecture diagrams, SOPs, configurations, roadmaps, and project schedules).

Stay current with evolving Microsoft technologies (Active Directory, Azure, SCCM, etc.).

Communicate outages and root cause resolutions to stakeholders and senior management.

Participate in Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery planning and testing.

Comply with enterprise-level security, privacy policies, and departmental procedures.

Provide backup support for IT systems outside of primary responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field and 5–10 years of relevant IT experience, or equivalent training and experience.

Demonstrated experience with Microsoft 365 migrations and tenant configuration.

Proficient in PowerShell scripting for advanced administration and automation.

Strong experience with ADFS, Entra ID, and M365 authentication methods.

Advanced knowledge of SQL databases.

Proven hands-on administration experience with M365 services (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive).

Familiarity with NIST standards and enterprise security best practices.

Effective communicator with the ability to explain technical topics to non-technical audiences.

Demonstrated multitasking and prioritization in dynamic, multi-platform environments.
Preferred Experience
-
Experience with Microsoft Purview and Defender security and compliance tools (e.g., DLP, eDiscovery, Information Protection, Defender for Identity/Endpoint).

Experience migrating data/services from legacy systems (e.g., file servers, Confluence) to SharePoint Online.

Endpoint configuration and management using Intune and MECM for hybrid deployments.

Previous participation in 24x7x365 on-call rotations with demonstrated ability to respond quickly and effectively.

Familiarity with cross-platform (Windows, Mac, iOS) device deployment and management.
