The MedBill Team Leader is responsible for overseeing a small team within the Medical Billing department, ensuring efficient operations and timely completion of tasks. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, along with a solid understanding of medical terminology, insurance policies, billing procedures, and reimbursement practices. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications—including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint—is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage daily departmental workflows to ensure operational efficiency and inventory management

  • Supervise team members, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback

  • Maintain accurate records related to attendance, performance evaluations, and training

  • Support recruitment efforts, including resume review, interviewing, and hiring decisions

  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance productivity and process effectiveness

  • Track progress toward departmental goals and report outcomes to management

  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and organizational policies

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required

  • Certified Professional Coder certification preferred

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities

  • Proven ability to multitask and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team

  • Skilled in managing multiple priorities without compromising quality

This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement.  Candidates who live near one of our office locations (Hartford, CT, San Antonio, TX, Scottsdale, AZ, Lake Mary, FL, Naperville, IL) will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$85,600 - $128,400
