Title: Manager, Legal Ops

Location: New York, NY

Job Description:

We’re looking for new team members to join FanDuel Sports Network, the nation’s largest provider of live local sports.

As a local sports media platform, we’re proud to be the local media partner for 29 MLB, NHL, and NBA teams, producing and delivering over 3,000 live games and events every year. Whether it’s the heat of a playoff push or the excitement of Opening Day, we’re all about delivering the moments that matter to hometown fans.

The Position:
We are seeking a strategic Manager, Legal Operations to lead the operational transformation of our legal department as we rebuild and modernize our legal function. Reporting to the Legal Counsel, this role will be instrumental in designing efficient processes, implementing legal technology solutions, and creating scalable systems to support our diverse business operations across rights acquisition, content production, distribution, and direct-to-consumer services.
 

This position is hybrid in NYC.
 

The Game Plan:
(What you will do)
 

Process Optimization & Workflow Management

  • Design and implement efficient legal workflows for contract management, rights acquisition, and compliance processes
  • Develop standardized templates, playbooks, and procedures for recurring legal matters
  • Create intake systems and matter management processes to streamline business unit requests
  • Establish service level agreements and performance metrics across legal functions
  • Optimize outside counsel management and alternative fee arrangements
     

Technology Implementation & Management

  • Lead selection, implementation, and management of legal technology stack including contract management systems and legal project management tools
  • Develop AI-powered solutions for contract review, legal research, and document automation
  • Collaborate with IT and Security teams on privacy-by-design initiatives and security policies
  • Oversee data protection impact assessments and privacy compliance audits
  • Manage legal department's technology budget and vendor relationships
  • Ensure integration between legal systems and broader enterprise technology platforms
  • Drive adoption of new technologies through training and change management
     

Compliance Program Development & Implementation

  • Build and operationalize comprehensive compliance programs across all business functions
  • Design compliance monitoring, testing, and reporting frameworks
  • Develop policies and procedures for regulatory compliance
  • Create compliance training programs and ensure ongoing education for all employees
  • Establish incident response protocols and compliance violation investigation procedures
  • Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory bodies on compliance examinations
     

Data Analytics & Performance Management

  • Establish KPIs and metrics to measure legal department performance, compliance program effectiveness and business impact
  • Create dashboards and reporting systems for legal spend, matter status, and department productivity
  • Analyze legal data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement
  • Provide regular reporting to General Counsel and business stakeholders on legal operations metrics
  • Monitor regulatory changes and assess impact on business operations and compliance programs
     

Financial Management & Budgeting

  • Manage legal department budget including outside counsel spend, technology costs, and operational expenses
  • Implement cost control measures and alternative fee arrangements with external counsel
  • Develop budget forecasting and variance reporting processes
  • Coordinate with Finance team on legal spend analysis and optimization
     

Project Management & Strategic Initiatives

  • Lead cross-functional projects including legal department restructuring, compliance program rollouts and system implementations
  • Manage special initiatives such as compliance program development and process automation
  • Coordinate with business units on legal technology rollouts, compliance training and process changes
  • Support strategic planning and organizational development initiatives
  • Oversee regulatory change management and compliance program updates
     

Vendor & Outside Counsel Management

  • Develop and manage relationships with key legal service providers and technology vendors
  • Implement outside counsel guidelines and matter budgeting processes
  • Negotiate vendor contracts and service level agreements
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and vendor assessments
     

Knowledge Management & Training

  • Design and maintain legal knowledge management systems and precedent databases
  • Develop training programs for legal team on new processes and technologies
  • Create self-service resources for business units on common legal issues
  • Establish document retention and information governance policies
     

The Stats:
(What to bring)

  • Bachelor's degree required; JD, MBA, or relevant advanced degree preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in legal operations, business operations, or management consulting
  • Experience in media, entertainment, sports, or technology industries preferred
  • Prior experience with legal technology implementation and process improvement
     

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in legal technology platforms (contract management, e-billing, matter management)
  • Strong project management skills
  • Advanced Excel/data analysis skills; experience with BI tools a plus
  • Knowledge of AI/automation tools and their application to legal processes
  • Understanding of legal workflow optimization and process design

  • Background in data privacy and cybersecurity legal operations

The Company is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base compensation range for this role is $120K - $130K.   Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidates’ relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location.
