Job Description:
Merjent Inc. (Merjent) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Land Services Manager with demonstrated success, preferably with energy clients. In consultation with the Land Services Director, the Land Services Manager will assist with the oversight of all land-related services and assist with the development of the service line in accordance with Merjent and Division specific strategic plans. The Land Services Manager will help establish, implement, and oversee short-term and long-range goals, strategies, plans, and policies to ensure functional field services are operating in an efficient and profitable manner. The Land Services Manager will be responsible for managing the land agents acting as a point of daily contact for any inquiries, requests and/or concerns, reports to workload, assigning tasks, providing support and coaching.
This is a full-time benefits eligible opportunity that can be based anywhere in the U.S. The anticipated annual salary for this position is between $108,000 and $141,000 annually, dependent upon qualifications and experience.

responsibilities
Program Management Assistance
- Manage land services and take responsibility for success and shortcomings.
- Recruit and staff land agents for energy infrastructure projects.
- Manage and direct staff workload, including both direct and indirect time.
- Support the Land Services Director in evaluating staff performance and promotion requests with an eye toward ensuring organic growth of supplemental and entry-level staff.
- Provide direct oversight to higher complexity/budget projects.
Business Development Assistance
- Develop business opportunities in land services, including fostering existing and building new client relationships.
- Coordinate with the Land Services Director, President of Field Services, Chief Growth Officer, and Project/Program Managers on a routine basis to stay in front of current and future opportunities to ensure staffing levels, technical expertise, and client needs are being met.
- Market and cross-sell services both internally and externally.
- Identify and develop strategic partnerships.
- Assist with development and review of proposals.
Staffing Assistance
- Forecast and communicate staffing needs with leadership.
- Budget for field staffing and equipment needs.
- Identify strategic hires.
- Assist with onboarding supplemental staff.
- Support sub-consultant vetting and selection.
Safety
- Ensure field staff and field related projects are conducted in accordance with company and client requirements, while limiting overall risk for the company.
qualifications and experience
- Associate's degree and at least 10 years of land services experience in the energy industry.
- Initiative-taking problem-solver with the ability to assist in planning resources to keep the land service line running smoothly.
- Ability to proactively plan, schedule, track, monitor, and advance land acquisition activities.
- Exceptional interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Existing network of contacts and partners in the energy market is an asset.
- Highly flexible and able to quickly adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to recognize and identify strategic growth partners that could accelerate the growth of the land service line
- Ability to exercise independent judgement and discretion and have the confidence to ask questions to ensure clear and strategic action.
- Ability to proactively identify and strategically work to resolve challenging situations with confidence.
- Comfortable with public speaking and presenting to management, clients, and key landowners.
- Ability to delegate work assignments, set expectations, and monitor progress.
- Highly effective negotiator in difficult situations, taking all points of view into consideration to determine the best course of action for Merjent and the Field Services Division.
- Strong team-player and team builder.
- Strong work ethic and high integrity; Action-oriented, dedicated, and deliberate.
- Travel up to 25%.
- Remotely based position. Ideally, the successful candidate will be based in the US and the expectation will align working hours in Central/Eastern times zones.
- Ability to work in both office and field environments.
