As an IT Network Technician, this role supports DCYF's mission by implementing and maintaining network infrastructure across local and remote sites, including support for external partners like tribes and providers. The technician provides journey-level consultation on medium to large-scale projects involving complex networks, technical expertise, and collaboration with agencies like WaTech. Responsibilities include capacity planning, network configuration, and troubleshooting DNS, IP addressing, and routing issues, while ensuring high-level communication and coordination with diverse stakeholders and vendors.

Some of what you will get to do:

  • Coordinate and work with service providers, WaTech, DSHS, and DCYF customers to identify causes and create solutions for network issues.
  • Monitor and manage the health of the network using available DCYF network monitoring systems.
  • Monitor event log and network infrastructure performance to analyze trends and identify issues.
  • Perform analysis, installation, maintenance, configuration, project management and consulting tasks within DCYF.
  • Participate in lessons learned efforts Implement and document changes to Ensure network configurations and specifications for the Jr To 25 Project are documented. Document Jr To 25 Network device configurations.
  • Implement and document changes to the network environment.
  • Coordinate with DCYF local IT for installs and circuit turn-ups.
  • Create and update detailed WAN site network diagrams.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for WAN services in response to incidents and major incidents.
  • Determine root causes for WAN network incidents.
  • Provides mission critical expertise in core infrastructure technology, including configuring devices, upgrading software, additions, moves, and changes.
  • Use capacity planning reports and tools to proactively request additional networking resources (hardware, circuits, software) to meet customer requirements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Six years of consultative, administrative, or supervisory experience in information technology analysis, system maintenance, or troubleshooting/problem resolution experience, or analyzing, designing, or programming computer systems applications or databases.

OR

  • An Associate's degree or completion of an accredited vocational training program in an information technology or related program and six years of Information Technology experience such as consulting, analyzing, design, programming, installing and/or maintaining computer software applications, hardware, telecommunications, or network infrastructure equipment.

 

OR

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, networking, information systems or a related field and 4 years of Information Technology experience such as consulting, analyzing, design, programming, installing and/or maintaining computer software applications, hardware, telecommunications, or network infrastructure equipment. 

 

Additional Required Qualifications:

  • 2 years recent experience within the last 5 years preparing network design plans, acquisition plans, and preparing acquisition orders coordinating with network/software vendors and telecommunications carriers for medium or large Network (WAN/LAN) infrastructure.
  • e 2 years recent experience within the last 5 years working across a multiple customer base in a large, decentralized organization.
