About the Role
Institutional Giving Manager
The Institutional Giving Manager is a member of our expanding philanthropy team, assisting the Director of Institutional Giving to grow, develop and sustain the organization’s philanthropic partnerships with institutional donors including corporations, foundations, and other public and private funding entities. Your understanding of and passion for the organization’s vision, mission, values, goals, and objectives combined with your expertise in writing clear and compelling cases for support will make you shine.
What you will do:
- Manage a portfolio of 75 institutional funders, tracking interactions, deadlines, and reporting requirements.
- Develop and execute strategies for securing grants to meet funding needs, articulating our value proposition.
- Cultivate, steward, sustain relationships with funders through personal outreach and conduct site visits.
- Collaborate with program and conservation staff to gather information for grant proposals, reports, and other materials to effectively communicate the organization’s goals, objectives, needs, outcomes, and impact to institutional funders.
- Work strategically with volunteers to identify and cultivate prospects and solicit and steward funders.
- Draft strategy briefings, proposals, donor correspondence and updates for the President & CEO, Board, Council, volunteers, and colleagues, as needed.
- Serve as a vital member of the Engagement Team by participating in group strategy discussions, providing development insight and guidance, sharing information with colleagues, and contributing to meeting the organization’s overall goals.
What you will bring:
- Proven record of securing grants and familiarity with drafting grant budgets.
- Demonstrated ability to gather and synthesize information and communicate complex issues in a clear, compelling, and succinct form.
- 8+ years of development and fundraising experience, especially with institutional funding. A combination of bachelor’s degree and 5 years of fundraising experience is preferred.
- Skill and experience in using prospect research and developing solicitation strategies.
- A deep commitment to our mission and values.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of people to prepare and implement grant proposals.
- Ability to work with discretion and handle sensitive and confidential information.
- You like to travel, mostly within Maine.
How and where you will work:
Work is performed in a normal office environment not subject to extremes of noise, temperature, odor, etc. Operates computer, printer, and other office equipment. Some offsite travel, primarily in Maine, is required.
MCHT has offices in Topsham, Rockport, MDI, and Whiting Maine and the location of this position is flexible and could be in any of our offices. We have a hybrid work model with 2 office days and 3 home days. The Director of Institutional Giving currently works out of Topsham; along with most of the Communications & Philanthropy team, including the Senior Director of Communications & Philanthropy.
This is a permanent, full-time position with a benefits package including insurance, generous vacation and sick time, and a retirement plan. The annual starting salary range for this role is $72,000 to $80,000 but is dependent upon experience.
