Job Description:

Job Description: Under the general direction of the AVP of Information Technology, this job serves as the primary resource for University Technology Infrastructure Networking. As the primary resource for this area, this position is responsible for advising and suggesting long-term solutions for issues. The scope of this network includes (not limited to): 5 physical locations, ~300 network switches, ~800 wireless access points, and ~7 firewalls. The Infrastructure and Security team is responsible for managing networking (WAN/LAN), servers (physical and virtual), storage, and cybersecurity platforms. The team works closely with IT Support Services and Enterprise Applications for supporting the University's technology needs.

This position is eligible for a flexible hybrid work arrangement with minimum in-office days of 3 per week.

Location: Glenside

Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, monitor, upgrade, and maintain University Technology Infrastructure Networking. This includes wireless, wired, firewalls, and Internet Service Provider (ISP) connections at all including main campus, data centers, and cloud.
  • Create and update documentation of existing and newly deployed networking assets.
  • Assess and provide recommendation to improve the security or performance of University networks.
  • Assist with budgeting, lifecycle management, long-term technology roadmap strategy.
  • Support issues escalated from Information Technology Support Services team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree is preferred or equivalent education.

  • Network+, CCNA, Fortinet NSE4 or similar certification preferred.

  • Critical thinking, problem-solving, and issue identification skills.

  • Three years of networking experience with an emphasis on Enterprise-grade wired/wireless equipment.

  • Familiarity in command-line interface of networking equipment.

  • Use of network diagnostic equipment (such as Fluke) to trace and locate cables.

  • Ability to interact and communicate professionally.

  • Ability to identify priority and work independently at times.

  • Ability to lift at least 30 pounds.

  • Experience with cloud systems (Azure) a plus.

  • Ability to develop and learn new skills with relevant technologies.
