Purpose
The LBJ School of Public Affairs is seeking an experienced and service-oriented Information Technology Coordinator II to oversee daily IT operations and end-user support. This position plays a key role in maintaining and supporting the School's technology infrastructure, including hardware, software, AV systems, and web services. The IT Coordinator will lead a small team, manage IT resources, support the implementation of university-wide IT initiatives, and provide training and documentation for faculty, staff, and students. The ideal candidate is a collaborative problem-solver with strong technical expertise, leadership experience, and a commitment to excellence in a higher education environment.
Responsibilities

Oversee the daily operations of technical support at the LBJ School, providing end-user support for software, hardware, and network issues across Windows and macOS platforms, as well as printers, VoIP phones, and mobile devices.

Manage imaging, deployment, troubleshooting, and lifecycle maintenance of the School's hardware fleet using appropriate management tools.

Support the maintenance and development of LBJ School websites. Serve as a backup to the Web Developer, collaborate with the Communications team on web-related initiatives, and contribute to digital projects as assigned.

Coordinate with LAITS and the broader UT IT community to align the School with University technology standards and prepare for upcoming IT initiatives and infrastructure changes.

Develop and maintain clear, user-friendly documentation for internal IT processes and end-user support materials.

Supervise, train, and mentor student workers and full-time IT staff.

Provide training for faculty, staff, and students on the use of classroom AV systems and new hardware or software tools.

Assist in managing IT inventory and support the completion of the annual Information Security Office Risk Assessment.

Support IT procurement processes, including research, purchasing, tagging, and tracking hardware and software assets.

Assist with administrative tasks such as budget planning and resource allocation.

Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
-
Bachelor's degree.
-
Experience providing technical support for both macOS and Windows environments, including diagnosing and resolving software, hardware, and network issues.

Experience imaging, deploying, and maintaining hardware using management tools and standard processes.

Experience leading or coordinating IT support functions, including supervision of staff or student workers and delivering end-user training.

Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with faculty, staff, students, and technical teams.
-
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and projects, prioritize effectively, and adapt to changing technology environments.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Five or more years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or help desk roles.

Experience working in a higher education or academic environment.
-
Experience providing support for AV systems and user training in classroom or hybrid learning environments.

Familiarity with Pantheon web hosting, the UT Drupal Kit, and content management systems (CMS); experience collaborating with web development or communications teams.

Working knowledge of information security principles and experience completing IT risk assessments such as ISORA.

Experience assisting with IT budget planning and procurement processes.
