Title: Head of Product & Project Governance - People and Culture

Location: 1 Denison St, North Sydney NSW 2060, Australia

Full-time

Company Description

Nine is Australia’s largest locally owned media company. Working at Nine, you’ll have access to a unique range of experiences and opportunities, helping drive the success of the country’s most trusted television, radio, digital and publishing brands.

Our content reaches almost every Australian - meaning what we do has real impact. We bring people together, celebrate the big moments, and capture the everyday ones.

Some of our most beloved brands have been part of Australian life for generations, and others - new on the scene - have already found their place firmly in our lives. We’re evolving and we need people like you to bring new ideas, innovate and make your mark.

Job Description

We are seeking a Head of Product & Project Governance to shape the future of our People & Culture (P&C) function.

In this pivotal role, you'll sit at the heart of our People Transformation team, responsible for building and managing the product roadmap, guiding our teams through the discovery and design phase, and leading the strategic prioritisation of all P&C products and initiatives. You'll build and mature our P&C Project Management Office (PMO), ensuring disciplined execution and consistent delivery across our "Nine2028" program and beyond.

This role is a first of it's kind at Nine - combining product experience and expertise with the P&C team and challenging the way things have been done before, bringing in the new and driving value realisation by influencing executive decisions to deliver best-in-class HR technology, streamlined processes, and an enhanced employee experience.

What You'll Do:

  • Design and refine a strategic framework for prioritising all P&C products, projects, and initiatives. You'll ensure alignment with "Nine2028" goals, assess impact, and translate organisational needs into a cohesive and impactful roadmap.

  • Establish and mature the P&C Project Management Office (PMO), setting the enterprise standard for disciplined execution. You'll embed best-in-class methodologies, oversee portfolio progress, manage risks, and ensure timely resolution of critical issues.

  • Cultivate strong relationships with the Chief People Officer, Nine Executive Team, and senior leaders. You'll articulate compelling narratives around P&C strategy, influence investment decisions, and secure organizational buy-in for critical initiatives.

  • Define KPIs to measure the effectiveness of our frameworks, champion continuous improvement, and leverage people analytics to inform prioritisation and track progress.

  • Mentor and develop a team of product and project management professionals, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented environment.

Qualifications

What You'll Bring:

  • Executive-level ability in prioritisation and strategic decision-making, capable of synthesising complex information and evaluating competing priorities.
  • Deep expertise in product management principles, portfolio prioritisation, and establishing enterprise governance frameworks in complex, fast-paced environments (e.g., media, digital, tech).
  • Exceptional influencing and stakeholder engagement skills, with a proven track record of aligning senior executives and diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving acumen, with the ability to identify root causes and drive measurable continuous improvement.
  • Proven executive leadership and experience leading, motivating, and developing high-performing, multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience navigating and leading through significant organisational and cultural transformation.
  • A solid understanding of how business operations, technology, and people strategies intersect. While direct HR experience isn't mandatory, an understanding of HR processes and systems (especially HRIS implementation) is essential.
