Primary Position Function/Summary:
Identify funding opportunities, develop compelling grant proposals, and collaborate with faculty, staff, and external partners to secure funding that supports programs and initiatives aligned with Illinois International's strategic goals.
Statement of Duties & Responsibilities:
Grant Development and Writing
- Draft, edit, and submit high-quality, persuasive grant proposals and supporting documentation that align with funders' priorities and Illinois International's objectives.
- Develop narratives, budgets, and required attachments for proposals in collaboration with program leaders and relevant departments.
- Tailor grant applications to align with the specific funders' guidelines and evaluation criteria.
Collaboration and Coordination
- Partner with faculty, staff, and external stakeholders to gather input, data, and resources for grant proposals.
- Provide guidance and support in developing grant concepts and ensuring alignment with institutional goals.
- Coordinate the grant submission process, ensuring all deadlines are met and proposals comply with funder requirements.
Grant Research and Identification
- Research and identify prospective funding opportunities from federal agencies, private foundations, corporations, and international organizations, including foreign government agencies.
- Monitor trends and updates in grant funding related to international education, global engagement, and related fields.
Post-Award Support
- Assist with post-award reporting, including writing progress reports, final reports, and managing communication with funders as required.
- Support program leaders in tracking deliverables and ensuring compliance with grant terms and conditions.
Capacity Building and Training
- Organize workshops or training sessions for faculty and staff at Illinois International on best practices for grant writing and identifying international funding opportunities.
- Develop resources and tools to support grant-writing efforts across the organization.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, economics or a field related to the position.
Preferred: (Successful candidates will have):
- Master's degree.
- Experience in higher education or international education grant writing.
- Proficiency with grant management systems and software.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
- Strategic thinking with a focus on outcomes and impact.
- Analytical skills to interpret grant requirements and evaluate funding opportunities.
- Interpersonal skills to build relationships with faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of trends and funding priorities in international education, global engagement, and sustainable development.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, including the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with federal grant processes, grant databases, and funding search tools.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.

APPOINTMENT INFORMATION:
This is a full-time 100% Civil Service Grants and Contracts Associate position appointed on a 12-month service basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close date. The salary for this position is competitive and based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity within Illinois International. The annual budgeted salary for this position is $60,000.
Sponsorship for work authorization is not available for this position.
Civil Service employees may earn up to 28 days of vacation leave per year, depending on length of service. The University offers 11 annual paid holidays, 12 cumulative sick leave days, plus an additional 13 non-cumulative sick leave days, if needed, each year.
