The GCL utilizes genetic principles and tools to support the management of fish, shellfish, aquatic plant, and wildlife species in Alaska and is committed to providing high quality and relevant data that directly supports ADFG's mission. The lab is respected and recognized nationally and internationally and by the public as a premier laboratory in the use of genetics for management of natural resources.
The Alaska Department of Fish and Game strives for a diverse and inclusive workforce where safety and wellbeing are paramount and employees at all levels promote a culture where everyone is valued, treated equitably, and treated respectfully.
Benefits of joining our team:
The GCL is a dedicated team of professional research staff and a close-knit group of geneticists, biologists, technicians, programmers, and a biometrician. Staff take pride in providing quality genetic data and advice to ADFG staff, policy makers, and the public to best manage Alaska's natural resources. We value teamwork, collaboration, communication, flexibility, and creativity. We offer schedule flexibility and hybrid telework options.
