Job Description:

Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Financial Program Supervisor, this position provides highly complex levels of purchasing, budget tracking, bookkeeping, auditing and accounting duties, along with inmate payroll process and disbursement processing, and clerical and administrative services to the institution maintenance department. This position will complete a variety of internal fiscal audits including state collections, canteen, voucher payments and accounts payable. This position is responsible for assisting in the pre-auditing of employee travel reimbursement claims. This position provides assistance with other business office functions, as directed for the integrated female correctional system.

Salary Information

This position is in pay schedule and range 02-13 with a starting pay of $26.08/hour, with excellent benefits. Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. A probationary period is required.

Job Details

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.

The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.

The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

This position will be eligible to work remotely 1 day per week after 6 months of employment.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have:

Knowledge of modern bookkeeping, accounting & auditing practices and principles; working knowledge and usage of MS-Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access), state accounting systems and the Internet; ability to understand and follow complex written and oral instructions; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, officials and the public; and identify issues and follow through with problem solving techniques
