About the role | Ko tenei turanga mahi
We're seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Environmental Compliance Officer to join our team on a permanent basis with both part time or full time options available. In this role, you will play a vital role in ensuring environmental compliance within our city, with the opportunity to make a positive contribution to the well-being of our environment and community. Key responsibilities include:

- Resource consent and National Environmental Standards (NES) monitoring
- Plan rule and bylaw enforcement
- Pollution response
- Occasional on-call and afterhours response
- Litter and Freedom Camping
About you | Ko nga pumanawa o
To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Experience in investigations, enforcement and providing advice on compliance issues, ideally in a similar role
- Strong understanding of the Resource Management Act 1991 and knowledge of other relevant legislation (eg. Local government Act 2002)
- Qualification in Resource Management, Planning or science would be an advantage
- Current driver's licence
- Commitment to a strong and consistent customer focus philosophy and able to relate well to customers
- Excellent communication, computer and writing skills
- High personal motivation with effective time management skills - ability to prioritise work deadlines
- Excellent investigation and enforcement skills, attention to detail, methodical
- Be a great team player and able to work collaboratively and as a supportive team member
- Conflict resolution/problem solving skills
- Physically able to carry out site inspections
