What you'll be responsible for:
IsraelNow is an immersive week-long trip to Israel for eighth graders. As part of the IsraelNow Chicago team, you will engage and recruit teens who live in the Chicagoland area as they prepare for their IsraelNow trip. You will be responsible for coordinating logistics, facilitating events and programs, and have primary responsibility over certain administrative functions of the program.
What you'll be doing:
Recruitment & Engagement
- Coordinating with the Director, recruit for the IsraelNow Chicago eighth grade Israel experience by running recruitment activities for teens, information sessions for parents/ guardians, and having one-on-one conversations with teens, potential participants, families, and Jewish professionals.
- Support the facilitation of pre and post trip events for teens and parents/ guardians.
- Reach out to and engage synagogue and organizational partners.
- Staff IsraelNow trips at the discretion of the director. Must be able to exercise independent judgement and discretion when running day-to-day operations on trips, leading groups of teens and volunteer staff, and resolving unexpected issues as they arise.
- Assist with staff recruitment and training.
- Partner with JUF's teen department.
Administration & Logistics
- Manage software for IsraelNow Chicago (Salesforce, CampMinder, etc.)
- Oversee application process and collect subsequent paperwork for teens and volunteer staff.
- Partner with the Accounting department to execute the billing process of enrolled families.
- Coordinate logistics for IsraelNow specific events such as orientations, information sessions, reunions, staff training, etc.
- Assist and participate in program evaluations, track and work with IsraelNow alumni on post-trip engagement.
- Other tasks as directed by supervisor.
- Support JUF Campaign and mandatory campaign-related activities on an ongoing basis.
What you need to succeed:
REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree
- Prior Israel experience, preferably including group travel
- Knowledge of, passion for, and authentic personal connection to relevant issues of Jewish communal life along with familiarity with the Jewish calendar and lifecycle
- At least one year of experience in operations, logistics, administration, process management, or related field
- At least one year of experience working directly with teens in an educational setting (i.e. youth movement, afterschool program etc.) or two summers working with teens at a summer camp
- Passion for Israel and working with teens
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, oral, and public speaking skills
- A dynamic and outgoing personality with the ability to develop relationships with a variety of age groups
- Self-motivated forward thinker, entrepreneurial spirit
- Must have the ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion.
- Availability to work occasional evenings or weekends and travel to Israel as needed
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Canva
PREFERRED:
- Israel teen travel or camp operations experience
- Familiarity with Hebrew
- Proficiency with CampMinder and Salesforce
