Schedule: Full-time, minimum 40-hour workweek with flexibility for evenings and events

Summary of Mandatory Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution OR a combination of education, experience, and professional credentials (CFRE)
- Minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated, successful fundraising and event experience
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with Boards of Directors, executive leadership, and community partners
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to travel locally (Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach counties) for agency business, meetings, and events
- Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends

About This Position
We are seeking a dynamic, relationship-driven, and strategic Director of Development to lead fundraising efforts and expand the visibility and impact of 211 Broward. This role is ideal for a confident and creative professional who enjoys building meaningful relationships, managing high-profile events, and developing innovative fundraising strategies.
The Director of Development is responsible for generating revenue through individual giving, corporate partnerships, special events, and planned giving, while working closely with the Board of Directors and executive leadership to advance the organization’s mission and long-term sustainability.

Key Responsibilities
- Solicit donations through individual gifts, corporate partnerships, sponsorships, events, and planned giving
- Oversee the planning and execution of fundraising events, including awards luncheons, VIP receptions, networking events, and special campaigns
- Serve as primary point of contact for contracted event management firms
- Lead donor stewardship efforts to increase donor retention and long-term commitment
- Evaluate third-party fundraising events and coordinate internal support for high-potential opportunities
- Prepare annual, seasonal, and special fundraising appeals
- Provide leadership and staff support to Board development committees
- Collaborate with external PR/Marketing partners on messaging, media relations, newsletters, e-blasts, and promotional materials
- Recommend and develop new fundraising initiatives to increase unrestricted revenue and public visibility
- Represent 211 Broward at community events for networking and donor engagement
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records in the donor management database
- Ensure all communications adhere to agency standards for accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism
- Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate development staff and volunteers
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing team culture
- Comply with all agency policies, professional standards, and assigned duties
Requirements
We are looking for candidates who have the following skills and abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution OR a combination of education, experience, and professional credentials (CFRE)
- Minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated, successful fundraising and event experience
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with Boards of Directors, executive leadership, and community partners
- Existing professional relationships within Broward County
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to travel locally (Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach counties) for agency business, meetings, and events
- Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and donor management software
- Experience with graphics or design software is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
