Job Description Summary
The Deputy Ombuds Leader is a high-visibility role integral to Vernova's Ombuds and Open Reporting program. This position will oversee a team of Business Ombuds Leaders and Case Managers, partnering with Compliance and Ethics Leadership to implement the overarching strategy for the program. Key responsibilities include monitoring business adherence to governance standards, preparing updates for the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Audit Committee, and supporting Ombuds case management across GE Vernova.
As the deputy ombuds leader you will help drive the global Speak Up/Open Reporting policy, and lead the full operational lifecycle of concern intake, triage, assignment, and case management for GE Vernova. You will also help drive definition of key performance metrics, data governance, and the strategic use of case management and AI-enabled tools to support insight-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.
In this highly collaborative role, you will partner closely with the Executive Compliance and Ethics Leadership Team, Segment Chief Compliance Officers, and global ethics and compliance teams to ensure the program meets regulatory expectations, aligns with business priorities, and supports the company’s values and reputation.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with the Executive Vernova Open Reporting and Investigations Leader to establish and support a governance model for Vernova HQ, by developing business standards, ensuring the businesses comply with those standards and, to the extent feasible, ensuring consistency among the businesses’ programs
- Develop and maintain clear operational standards and guidelines for issue intake, triage, escalation, and closure in partnership with the Investigations and Legal teams.
- Monitor and ensure adherence with regulatory requirements applicable to the ombuds and open reporting program, including data privacy, document retention and regulatory changes related to Whistleblowers
- Develop routines and systems to enable ongoing analysis of and reporting on ombuds and open reporting data, KPIs and metrics, including monitoring for trends, patterns, root cause and emerging risks. Assist in escalating significant issues, identifying preventative action and preparing strategic reports on the overall health of the Program.
- Able to coach and develop Ombuds (both full-time and the part-time Ombuds network), including the management and delivery of enterprise-wide engagement & training.
- Act as business partner with client groups. Increase transparency of the program by building strong relationships with decision makers and stakeholders to ensure alignment and support of business needs.
- Ensure consistent global application of the policy while adapting implementation approaches to meet local and cultural nuances.
- Ensure data integrity, consistency, and governance across all reporting channels and case types.
- Support communication, awareness, and training initiatives related to Speak Up processes and the use of reporting systems including the part-time ombuds program.
- Collaborate with the system administrator and DT to identify and define requirements for continuous improvement opportunities within the investigation management system and reporting capabilities.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 7 years Compliance, Ombuds, Investigations, Risk Analytics or similar relevant experience.
- Proven experience in system migrations/integrations.
- Proven ability to operate with personal integrity, discretion, confidentiality, objectivity and independence.
- Demonstrated capacity to be to handle interpersonal relationships judiciously and empathetically.

- Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills with ability to translate insights effectively, with excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills.
- Working knowledge of data retention and document management/privacy requirements.
- Advanced experience in creating and delivering clear and effective presentations.

If contracted in the US:
The base pay range for this position is $176,300 - 235,000 USD Annual. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a performance bonus.
