POSITION DETAILS

The Office of Budget and Finance seeks a Decision Support Analyst, reporting to the Decision Support and Business Services Lead. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in analyzing financial and operational data, translating it into actionable insights, and supporting informed decision-making. The Analyst will contribute to financial planning and analysis across key functions, including the general ledger, budget, procurement, accounts payable, asset management, corporate credit cards, and other related areas.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Supports reporting and analytics initiatives using CUNY’s Financial System data and other applications to improve organizational efficiency and decision-making.

  • Collects, organizes, and analyzes business data in response to team members or leadership requests, ensuring data integrity and relevance.

  • Assists with integrating data from multiple systems, including CUNY, New York State, and New York City platforms, to provide comprehensive insights.

  • Prepares and coordinates the development of standard and ad hoc financial reports and visual summaries focused on key functions such as general ledger reconciliation, expense tracking, asset management, and corporate credit card activity.

  • Utilizes analytics tools, including PeopleSoft Query, SQL, Tableau, and Power BI, to enhance efficiency, clarity, and presentation of financial reports and dashboards, ensuring they are accessible and actionable for stakeholders.

  • Develops and maintains detailed and user-friendly documentation for financial reporting and analytics processes, ensuring team members can easily step in when needed, support collaboration, and promote practical knowledge sharing.

  • Evaluates and recommends improvements to reporting tools and platforms to ensure alignment with the University's evolving requirements and priorities.

NOTE:

Until further notice, this position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum:

Bachelor's Degree required.

Preferred:

  • Proficiency with Business Intelligence tools such as PeopleSoft Query, SQL, Tableau, or Power BI.

  • Experience with data analysis and creating visualizations to support business needs.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to present technical findings to diverse audiences.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities.

  • Commitment to learning new data analysis techniques and tools.

  • Prepares, reconciles and distributes expenditure and related accounting reports

  • Creates and maintains various spreadsheets related to financial analysis

  • Monitors systems and operations to assure a smooth workflow

The salary range is $65,946 - $72,837 , commensurate with qualifications, education and experience.
