About the Role
Title: Data Journalist
Location: New York NY United States
We're looking for a seasoned, highly motivated Data Journalist to become our voice in credit-risk journalism. You will shape the narrative and editorial strategy around our unique consensus default-risk dataset, helping elevate our brand in the market.
The role has a global remit and entails collaboration with colleagues across London, New York, and Bangalore. The role is based in our New York City office with a hybrid working pattern involving a minimum of three days in the office.
Your responsibilities will include
- Translate firm- and sector-level credit consensus data into engaging, actionable stories.
- Collaborate with credit analysts, data scientists, and SMEs to create narrative-rich articles, charts, and visualizations.
- Drive our media engagement, proactively pitching trends and insights to journalists and editors.
- Lead regular sessions with our commercial team to review insights and market sentiment.
- Monitor financial, geopolitical, and macro trends to feed into the editorial calendar.
- Deliver rapid-turnaround analyses - whether for commercial teams, clients, or media requests.
- Amplify stories through social and professional channels - engaging clients, press, and the broader risk management community.
What we are looking for
- University degree in Economics, Finance, Data Journalism, or equivalent.
- 8-10 years' relevant experience should include at least 2 years focused on data journalism in financial media.
- Deep understanding of credit markets, probability of default, and geopolitical-economic drivers.
- Strong proficiency in quantitative analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Python, SQL).
- Familiarity and comfort with using AI tools for efficiency and impact.
- Visual storytelling skills - experience with tools like Tableau or Power BI is a strong plus.
- Published writing samples that demonstrate clear, insightful storytelling based on data.
- Ability to juggle fast-moving timelines and multiple high-impact projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communicator - comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders, press, and audiences online.
- Eligible to work in the United States.
Salary
- The annual base salary for this position is $100K-125K dependent on skillset and experience.
