Job Description
Our client in the financial services industry is seeking a Corporate Actions & Income Processing Specialist to join their team in Downtown Toronto. This is a full-time permanent role that is in office 4 days a week.
This position serves as a subject matter expert in corporate actions, income processing, and proxy events for securities held domestically and internationally across multiple systems.
Responsibilities include researching and resolving complex issues, processing mandatory and voluntary corporate actions, reviewing tax consequences, analyzing and completing legal documentation (e.g., escrows, tax reclaims), managing market claims, handling escalations, and maintaining strong relationships with issuers, depositories, brokers, and counterparties.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Oversee and process corporate action events and entitlement payments, including voluntary and mandatory events, income-related payments, and proxy assignments from local and foreign depositories.
- Process payments for Canadian securities, including physical exchanges for privately held securities and proxy preparation (both physical and electronic).
- Ensure accuracy of announcements related to corporate action offers and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist management by reviewing and overseeing department controls to minimize risk (e.g., dual verification on tenders and front-office notifications).
- Participate in projects aimed at improving efficiency and adapting to evolving market standards.
- Provide high-quality customer service to internal and external stakeholders, including broker-dealers, agents, issuers, and counterparties.
- Ensure compliance with policy and procedure updates to maintain proper controls.
- Contribute to the creation of procedures that enhance quality and risk management.

Qualifications and Skills
- Post-secondary education or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in the securities or brokerage industry, with at least 3 years specializing in corporate actions and entitlements processing, including tax and legal implications.
- Strong understanding of financial transaction processing, settlements, and corporate actions/income reconciliation.
- Completion or enrollment in the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) or Investment Funds Institute of Canada (IFIC) course is an asset.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
