Title: Copy Editor, Features

Location: NYC - 1211 Ave of the Americas

Job Description:

The New York Post provides readers with the best in News, Sports, Pop Culture and Entertainment  – with signature wit, irreverence and authority averaging 90 million unique viewers a month. Over the past 224 years, The Post has evolved into a multi-platform media company spanning print, digital, video, audio, app, television and commerce.

The New York Post is looking for a fast, pop culture-savvy Copy Editor (Sun-Wed & Fri, 12:30pm - 8:30pm) to join our Page Six/Lifestyle/Entertainment Copy Desk. This full-time role touches everything from celebrity gossip and theater reviews to health trends, fashion and those unmistakable New York Post headlines — yes, you’ll get to write some of them.

We’re looking for someone with a great editorial eye, strong print and/or digital skills, and an appreciation for the Post’s unique voice. If you thrive in a fast-paced newsroom, love a tight deadline and can rewrite a photo caption in a New York minute, we want to hear from you.

Note: The shift for this role is Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, from 12:30 PM to 8:30 PM.

Responsibilities:

  • Copy edit stories across Page Six, Lifestyle, Entertainment and Arts & Culture — both short and feature-length

  • Write headlines, captions and display type for print pages

  • Assist with print layouts for the newspaper

  • Fact check and proofread stories with speed and accuracy

  • Collaborate with reporters, editors and digital producers to maintain Post standards

  • Ensure consistency with AP and house style

  • Jump into breaking news and high-volume moments with flexibility and calm

  • Occasionally work late-night shifts for awards shows or major entertainment events

Requirements:

  • 2–5 years of experience in copy editing, proofreading and fact checking on tight deadlines

  • Strong command of grammar, spelling, punctuation and style (AP knowledge a must)

  • Experience in digital editing (WordPress/CMS) and/or print workflows

  • Comfort with layout tools and editorial formatting for print

  • Familiarity with print layout and procedures or willingness to learn

  • Familiarity with web publishing and best practices or willingness to learn

  • A sense of humor and of what makes a great story and headline

  • Familiarity with pop culture, celebrities and NYC’s cultural scene

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a deadline-driven environment

  • Willingness to work a majority of the time in our Midtown Manhattan newsroom

Note: The New York Post adheres to a hybrid work model. This role will be expected to report into the office 4 days per week (subject to change depending on business needs).

At The New York Post we recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company.  As a result, our ranges reflect our  good faith estimate to pay fairly as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process.
