Compliance Analyst
Location: New York United States
The Compliance Analyst is responsible for the collection and analysis of product data and documentation with a proactive approach to assessing risk. The Compliance Analyst will document and maintain compliance procedures and protocols; conduct research as necessary (including applicable safety standards, law and regulations). The Compliance Analyst will also be responsible for various reporting needs of the department.
This position is a hybrid role working out of our NYC, NY office which is located across from Union Square.
An employee in this position can expect an annual starting rate between $70,000 - $80,000 depending on experience, seniority, geographic locations, and other factors permitted by law.
What You Do
• Coordinate Proposition 65 claims, recalls and similar, including communication, documentation, follow-up, and disposition of inventory as determined by Director.
• Generate and review product, import, vendor and similar reports for compliance risk assessment daily or weekly at the direction of Director.
• Maintain vendor compliance certification, coordinating efforts for updates, as needed. Conduct analysis of certificate collection process as necessary to ensure that the methodology is in keeping with best practices.
• Track vendor testing of company products. Conduct assessment of safety test and pre-shipment inspection reports, present to Director for final disposition and communicate corrective actions to vendors and internal stakeholders.
• Review reporting from labs to monitor product safety.
• Work closely with testing labs to monitor product pre-shipment inspection reports, product test reports, and factory audit reports. Create reporting to monitor testing lab performance.
• Coordinate internal training and outreach sessions with Merchants and other departments.
• Obtain factory information for new Import Vendors and for new POs, verify current/approved factories and initiate service provider action, as necessary. Maintain Vendor/Factory Database – determining Approved Factories (based on audit data).
• Review / revise corporate website, internal systems and vendor operational guidelines in coordination with Director and other departments.
Knowledge & Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree and 2+ years’ experience working on compliance related projects, monitoring performance and analysis of results in a retail or supplier organization.
• Possess excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills related to data management, document storage and retrieval, project ownership and time management.
• Strong research, data mining, reporting and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficient in MS Office (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Word and Outlook).
• Must be proactive, team player, a self-starter and flexible.
