Our Commercial Key Accounts department is currently seeking underwriting assistants. Underwriting assistants support account executives in all aspects of new business, renewal and post-issue transactions. This position is based at our Headquarters in Fairfield, OH.
Many departments at our Headquarters in Fairfield, Ohio, offer hybrid work options, empowering associates to work from home several days a week. Depending on your role and responsibilities, hybrid options may be available for those working at headquarters.
The pay rate for this position is $21.63 an hour. Eligible associates may also receive an annual cash bonus and individual performance.
Be ready to:
-
assist account executives in all aspects of file preparation to include:
-
gather and evaluate relevant information regarding exposure and controls
-
document and analyze claims information for loss rating
-
run and review MVRs; decide on exclusions
-
follow-up for signed forms, confirm agency licensing is in place, process motor carrier filings
-
create account proposal for review
-
apply knowledge of coverage forms and guidelines in evaluation of change requests
-
become proficient in a variety of systems and reports
-
provide quality review of quotes and issued policies
-
manage revisions to quotes to ensure integrity of the information and to eliminate discrepancies
-
communicate with agency partners on behalf of the account executive to gather and relay information
-
collaborate with account executives and managers to ensure compliance with state guidance and appropriate application of coverage
-
draft detailed bind, issue, and booking instructions
-
partner with team assistants and technology teams to meet service level agreements

handle special projects and assignments as directed
Be equipped with:
- strong verbal and written communication skills to explain, persuade and present information
- the ability to multitask and the ability to prioritize work
- excellent attention to detail
- the ability to work independently and proactively in an orderly and timely manner
- willingness to learn and work with a sense of urgency
- highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills
- the capacity to develop positive working relationships with team members and agents
- proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is preferred
Bring education and experience from:
- high School diploma required
- post-secondary degree preferred
- two or more years of insurance related work experience preferred
