his is for fixed term, full time appointment at 80 hours per fortnight with the possibility of extensions.

An opportunity exists for a talented and enthusiastic Clinical Nurse Manager to join the team at Kununurra Hospital to support workforce requirements for the transitioning of remote clinics (Warmun and Kalumburu) to Kununurra Hospital.

To be successful, you will have...

  • Eligible for registration in the category of Registered Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • Understanding of and commitment to, the, aims and objectives of WACHS Strategic Plan, and its application to the delivery of care in a remote setting.
  • Demonstrated leadership, management and communication skills with advanced problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide clinical leadership and a preceptor role for health staff at Remote Area clinics - possesses current competencies for the Remote Area Nurse Role.
  • Demonstrated understanding of cultural factors and social determinants particularly relating to Aboriginal health.
  • Current C Class manual Drivers Licence with 4 WD experience and an ability and willingness to travel by road and small aircraft including overnight stays away from home.

Position Profile:

Provides team leadership both clinical and non-clinical towards the achievement of objectives of the WACHS Kimberley, in terms of client outcomes and remote community participation. Effectively manages staff and resources to achieve objectives. Facilitates a culturally capable service delivery based on a partnership approach with individuals, families and communities to promote participation in their own health care.

Area Profile

WACHS Kimberley is the most northern health region of WACHS. The Kimberley region has approximately 200 Aboriginal communities, over 34 different Aboriginal language groups and 45 percent of the population are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. WACHS Kimberley consists of six hospitals, an inpatient mental health unit, three Community Directorates and a Corporate Office. WACHS Kimberley provides hospital, community health, public health, remote area health, community aged care, and mental health services across the region through a dedicated team of medical, nursing, Aboriginal health, allied health, and support staff.
