The Cash Application Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely posting of customer payments, deposits, and remittances. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the integrity of financial records by applying cash receipts against customer accounts, reconciling discrepancies, and supporting overall processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Post daily customer payments (checks, ACH, wire transfers, credit cards) accurately and in a timely manner.
- Process deposits and apply cash to customer accounts based on remittance advice.
- Research and resolve payment discrepancies, unapplied cash, and unidentified receipts.
- Reconcile accounts and ensure proper documentation is maintained.
- Collaborate with internal teams (Collections, Billing, and Customer Service) to resolve payment-related issues.
- Monitor and track remittances to ensure alignment with customer accounts.
- Assist with month-end closing activities related to cash applications.
- Maintain compliance with internal controls and company policies.
- Support ad hoc projects or process improvement initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP/financial systems
- 1+ years of experience with NetSuite
- 2+ years of experience in Accounts Receivable, Cash Applications, or related financial operations role.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
