Ascend Autism is a family-centric, tech-enabled, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy company serving children and families across the Northeast. Through a natural and accessible approach to ABA, Ascend Autism is elevating the outcomes of children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

Ascend is seeking a full-time Billing Specialist to help us in managing our end-to-end revenue and collections cycle with third-party payors and patients. 

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Submit initial claims on a weekly basis
  • Follow-up, and re-submit claims, as necessary. Review all outstanding claims on a weekly basis
  • Monitor and report on aging of accounts receivable and reason codes for claim denials, escalating systemic issues internally and externally until fully resolved
  • Posting of collections to billing management software and processing of remittances from payors
  • Inform clinical team members and human resources team members of any identified billing issues that affect specific client families
  • Engage with client families on topics relating to billing/payment of open balances; address questions/concerns on bills/invoices and ensure all questions are answered in a timely and professional manner
  • Regularly audit medical record documentation to verify the accuracy and completeness
  • Maintain positive relationships with insurance payors, clients, staff, fellow and third-party partners
  • Follow Billing and RCM procedures and highlight deviations as they may arise

  • Comfortable with calling / demanding escalation from third party payors

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook)


Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Required experience in healthcare billing / RCM
  • Required experience working with clients and third-party healthcare payors
  • Required experience of using ICD and/or CPT coding systems and medical compliance regulations
  • Certified Revenue Cycle Specialist (CRCS) or Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) certification preferred
  • Familiarity with ABA and/or NY Early Intervention services preferred
