We are excited to hire a part-time Billing Clerk I to join our team! The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of duties to help maintain efficient and effective Solid Waste Disposal and Recovery Division operations; to operate traffic control window and ensure proper accounting of revenue and expenditures; to provide professional customer service.
Successful candidate must be able to complete a background check and a drug screen.
Projected Hiring Range/Pay Grade 108: $17.62 - $21.14 per hour. Salary is determined based on qualifications.
Work Schedule: Approximately 25 hours per week. Required to work every Saturday from 7:00 am-12:30 pm. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 9:00am-2:00pm. Work schedule may vary from time to time and also required to work in inclement weather and some holidays.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operates a traffic control window weighing in all vehicles that enter the landfill and operates the landfill gate at appropriate hours.
- Screens all inbound waste loads to determine acceptable versus non-acceptable waste per SCDHEC standards and directs the customer to the appropriate area for disposal.
- Answers the phone and assists customers, transfers calls to the appropriate person and/or department and takes messages as needed.
- Monitors scales for proper operation and accuracy and notifies appropriate person(s) when not in working order.
- Assists various departments within the county with records of waste brought in and taken out.
- Handles all cash transactions and balances a cash drawer on a daily basis.
- Performs various clerical duties such as filing, faxing, copying, sorting, answering telephones, and running daily reports.
- Communicates with contractors about transfer station operations.
- Provides basic custodial duties.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High School Graduation or GED equivalent.
- Two (2) years of customer service, sales, clerical or related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Certifications and Licenses:
- Valid CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification or the ability to obtain.
Applicants with equivalent experience and/or education may be considered.
Physical Demands:
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
- Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
