As a Billing & Payments Specialist I, you’ll ensure timely and accurate processing and reconciliation of member payments. This position supports day-to-day billing functions associated with insurance and membership operations, with a focus on efficiency and accuracy.

What you’ll do
- Process incoming and outgoing insurance-related payments, including but not limited to premium payments, member refunds, and agent commissions
- Reconcile daily payments with internal insurance and payment systems, including variance analysis
- Analyze and execute member payment adjustments
- Accurately allocate and apply payments to customer policies in the insurance system
- Identify and escalate payment discrepancies or exceptions
- Maintain up-to-date records and support audit trails
This might describe you
- Previous experience in billing, treasury operations, or finance
- Basic understanding of payment types (ACH, wire, checks) and reconciliation practices
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills
- Insurance industry knowledge is an asset, but not required

- This position is a hybrid position requiring a rotational period to work out of the office Headquarters in Traverse City, MI.
- Familiarity with public company requirements, including Sarbanes Oxley and key regulations, if applicable. For SOX compliant roles, responsible for designing, executing, and documenting internal controls where they have been identified as owners to prevent errors in financial reporting, processes, and business operations. Including attestation to the completeness, accuracy, and compliance of all financial reporting data, where applicable.
