Title: Audio Designer
Location: Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada
Job Description:
HB Studios is a driving force in the creation of sports video games and the studio behind PGA TOUR 2K Golf - presently working on Console and PC. We have an opportunity for an Audio Designer to join our team of developers, creators, and fans, who are passionate about the art and process involved in video game development.
As an Audio Designer, you will work closely with a hard-working, cross-disciplinary team to build and implement high-quality audio that brings life and immersion to one of the fastest growing sports games series in the industry!
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate directly with Leads to maintain alignment with audio vision and balance quality, production schedules, and budget constraints.
- Partner with other departments to ensure smooth audio integration that supports and improves their creative vision.
- Create, edit, and implement original audio assets including sound effects, dialogue, and ambient sounds.
- Ensure consistency and quality of dialogue editing and integration with existing audio content.
- Design, test, and validate innovative features that elevate gameplay.
- Manage and optimize a large database of audio assets effectively.
- Identify, track, and resolve audio-related bugs throughout the production cycle.
- Provide input to the improvement of audio tools and workflows.
- Mentor junior team members and document audio processes and workflows.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
- Typically, 2 to 4+ years of industry experience in Audio Design.
- Practical knowledge or degree in Audio Design or Music Technology.
- Proficiency with Digital Audio Workstations (e.g., Reaper, Adobe Audition, Ableton Live).
- Experience working with version control systems (e.g., Perforce, Git) and data management software (e.g. Microsoft Access).
- Strong understanding of Audio Implementation Tools and Middleware (Wwise, FMOD).
- Demonstrated knowledge in editing and mastering dialogue, synthesis, sound design, and audio mixing techniques.
- Familiarity with scripting or programming languages relevant to game audio implementation.
- Experience with music composition.
