Job Description:
Analyst, Cyber Defence Analytics
Make a difference with data in cyber defence
Cyber Defence Analytics is a specialist team at the centre of our Cyber Defence Operations. We transform raw data into intelligence, visualisations, and actionable insights-empowering operational cyber teams to be more effective, efficient, and agile in protecting the bank.
Our mission:
To harness the power of data analytics, automation, and AI to uplift operational capabilities-enabling our teams to solve problems faster, identify patterns and architect smarter workflows, to protect our people and customers.
What you'll do:
As an Analyst, Cyber Defence Analytics, you'll play a key role in helping cyber defence operations teams "see" their world more clearly-by curating and visualising data; communicating risk metrics and trends; and designing innovative solutions which enable better decisions and sustainable change.
You'll collaborate across the cyber defence function (incident response, detection, cybercrime, red team, data breach, third party incidents), acting as an engineering problem solver at the intersection of security and operations. You'll experiment with analytical methods, dashboards, automation, and new approaches to architect teams working better together and improve their effectiveness.
Your responsibilities:
-
Analyse cyber defence operations data (incidents, threats, workflows) to discover insights, trends, and opportunities for operational improvement and smarter team design.
-
Engineer and optimise interactive dashboards, visualisations, and team metrics to drive operational change and sustainable, strategic improvements
-
Design and implement process uplifts, automation, and analytical models-using generative AI, machine learning and analytics tools to solve real-world problems for security operations.
-
Architect solutions for cross-team workflows, communication, and data-sharing that strengthen our overall resilience and speed of response.
-
Partner with operational and technical teams to understand pain points, co-design solutions, and deliver impactful process improvements.
-
Assist with incident documentation, insight write-ups, and proactive anomaly alerting-turning data into compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
-
Support the full data lifecycle: collection, cleaning, enrichment, storage, reporting, and process governance.
Who we're looking for:
People with an engineering mindset-natural problem solvers with a passion for building, optimising, and architecting better ways for operational teams to work together. You love turning data into solutions, connecting dots across teams, and thinking creatively about new approaches. You thrive in a collaborative, fast-moving environment and want to make a real impact by helping cyber teams work smarter and safer.
About you:
-
1+ years' experience in cyber defence operations (incident response, detection, threat intel, cybercrime) OR hands-on experience in data analytics/engineering for security operations
-
Proven experience engineering dashboards, visualisations, and reporting workflows (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI, SIEM platforms)
-
Experience architecting data-driven process improvements/automations and team collaboration solutions in technical environments
-
Knowledge of IT security principles and cyber defence processes
-
Proficiency in designing and implementing automation, analytical models, and working with generative AI or large language models
-
Strong problem-solving, communication, and relationship-building skills across technical and operational teams
-
Ability to turn complex data into clear, actionable stories and strategies
Desirable qualifications:
-
Tertiary degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Engineering, Data Science, IT or related discipline
-
Membership or active participation in industry associations
We support our people with flexible arrangements, including hybrid work, part-time options, and job sharing. Here, your curiosity, engineering mindset, and passion for problem-solving will help us advance cyber defence and protect what matters.
Why you'll want this job:
If you love to experiment, engineer smart tools, architect better workflows, and help teams excel at the intersection of security and data -this is your opportunity to make a real impact and help shape the future of collaborative cyber defence.
If you're already part of the Commonwealth Bank Group (including Bankwest, x15ventures), you'll need to apply through Sidekick to submit a valid application. We're keen to support you with the next step in your career.
