Job Title: Ambulatory Nurse II
Department: Neurology Outpatient Neuromuscular Division
Location: Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania- 3400 Spruce St
Hours: M-F, 8:30-5p with flexibility based on operational needs. Hybrid work is available 1-2 days/week dependent on operations
The Neuromuscular Division within the Department of Neurology provides comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, treatment and management for all types of neuromuscular disorders. Our program is a national leader in managing conditions like Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS), chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), and Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) disease along with peripheral neuropathies and myasthenia gravis. The Ambulatory Nurse II will play an integral role in the monitoring, tracking and coordination of an array of complex therapeutics including numerous infusion medications. Responsibilities also include phone triage, symptom management, result review, patient education and assisting with in-office procedures such as lumbar punctures and skin/muscle/nerve biopsies. This nurse will also have a role in the cross-coverage of our Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) Clinic where we focus on spinal muscular atrophy, duchenne muscular dystrophy and associated therapies to manage symptoms. Our Neuromuscular program along with our Penn Neurogenetics Therapy Center is at the forefront of genetic-based therapeutics for neurogenetic disorders. This nurse will have the opportunity to participate in innovative care that gives access to groundbreaking new treatments. We are seeking a highly motivated, empathic, and autonomous individual interested in providing individualized and specialized care to this vulnerable population.
Neurology experience is helpful but not required.

- The Ambulatory Nurse II Colleague possesses the knowledge, skills and the attitude to effectively meet standards for competent professional nursing practice as specified in the Ambulatory Nurse II position description addendum. The Ambulatory Nurse II Colleague exhibits UPHS organizational behavioral competencies which reflect its mission and are embedded in the professional practice competency domains.
- The Ambulatory Nurse II Colleague independently provides patient care through the application of the nursing process and accepts accountability for the nursing care of assigned patients. Assigned patients may range in age from infancy to the elderly. The Ambulatory Nurse II Colleague demonstrates within the competency domains of Continuous Quality Improvement, Evidence Based Practice and Research, Leadership, Person and Family Centered Care, Professionalism, Safety, Technology/Informatics, and Teamwork (Definitions listed below).The Ambulatory Nurse II Colleague works closely with the interprofessional health care team to facilitate the coordination of care across the continuum. The nurse focuses on expanding the knowledge and skills necessary to provide individualized care based on physical, psychosocial, cultural, educational, safety, and age-appropriate considerations of assigned patients.

- Informatics/Technology: The nurse utilizes appropriate information and technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support decision making across the continuum.

- Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI): The nurse utilizes data and QI methods to identify potential and actual problems and opportunities to provide care that is safe, timely, efficient, effective, and equitable.
Education and Credentials:
- Diploma or ASN from an accredited school of nursing (Required)
- And 15+ months of relevant professional nursing experience (Required)
- Registered Nurse - PA (Required)
- Basic Cardiac Life Support from the AHA (Required)
