Adventure Specialists at Natural Habitat Adventures aren’t just selling trips, they’re crafting journeys into the wild that change lives. This sales role is made for those who thrive on connecting people with the natural world, helping curious travelers find the perfect adventure to match their dreams. With every call or email, they draw on deep knowledge of remote landscapes, wildlife encounters, and expedition logistics to inspire and guide guests toward booking. It’s about listening closely, sharing their passion, and closing each sale with the confidence that they’re sending someone on the trip of a lifetime while sparking a lifelong passion for conservation and sustainable travel. We are looking for local candidates who are willing to work from our Louisville, CO office at least two days per week.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop in-depth knowledge of Natural Habitat Adventures’ destinations, trip styles, and individual itineraries to effectively advise guests.
• Respond promptly and professionally to incoming phone calls and emails from prospective travelers, often managing multiple inquiries in quick succession.
• Create and write customized itineraries and proposals tailored to the interests and preferences of individual guests.
• Focus on direct sales by engaging with prospective clients, promoting products, and guiding them through the booking process to close sales.
• Follow up on leads to identify trip preferences, recommend suitable options, and secure reservations.
• Book and enter guest reservations into internal systems while managing pre-trip questions, special requests, and logistical details.
• Handle guest inquiries and assist in resolving minor issues related to bookings, travel logistics, and services.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, air, concierge, and operations, to ensure seamless service and exceptional guest experiences.
• Operate within established sales processes and frameworks, often under the guidance of senior team members or managers.
• Maintain availability to work a full-time schedule, Monday through Friday (8 AM–5 PM), with participation in a rotating Saturday shift (8 AM–3 PM); additional hours may be required to meet sales and performance goals.


SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
• International travel experience preferred, especially to nature-based destinations (e.g., Africa, Galapagos).
• Sales experience in the travel industry is not a requirement but is a huge plus, particularly with trips (custom or otherwise) to Africa and the Galapagos.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly organized with strong multitasking capabilities.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Effective team player who can also work independently.
• Entry to mid-level professional experience.
• Demonstrated understanding of sales principles and the customer journey.
• Familiarity with core tools and systems (e.g., Tigress); training and support provided.
• Passion for travel and excellence in customer service.
• Strong initiative and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
• Potential to advance to a Senior Adventure Specialist role based on performance and sales success.


COMPENSATION

The starting salary offered for this position is $40,000, paid twice a month in accordance with Natural Habitat Adventures’ standard payroll practices and subject to all withholdings and deductions as required by law. You will be eligible to receive a commission on your own tour and extension sales at a rate of 1% of sales revenue (excluding all airfare) and bonuses consistent with the bonus structure as set for by our Chief Sales Officer. Bonuses will be based on bookings by month, starting at 30 bookings and increasing in value with every 10 additional bookings made.
At one year of employment, compensation moves from the plan stated above to the standard commission structure: a salary of $8,000 per year, commission at the approximate rate of 1.25% of your sales, and bonuses as set forth for the team.
Please note: All compensation is subject to change at any time due to the variances of our company structure and other reasons.


WORKING HOURS
Our office hours are Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM MT. Additionally, some of our guest-facing teams work on Saturdays from 8 AM to 3 PM MT. You may need to adjust your hours as needed to achieve your goals.
 

TRAVEL
This position requires attendance in the office at least two days per week.
