About the Role:

The Admissions Specialist plays a critical role in the health care services industry by managing the patient intake process with efficiency and compassion. This position is responsible for coordinating admissions, ensuring all necessary documentation is accurately completed, and facilitating communication between patients, families, and clinical staff. The specialist serves as the first point of contact for prospective patients, providing detailed information about services and guiding them through eligibility and enrollment procedures. By maintaining meticulous records and adhering to regulatory requirements, the Admissions Specialist helps optimize patient flow and supports the overall operational success of the facility. Ultimately, this role ensures a seamless and positive experience for patients entering care at Cornerstone, 55.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or higher preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a health care administrative or admissions role.
  • Strong understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems and standard office software.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in health administration, social work, or related field.
  • Experience working in a health care services environment, particularly in patient admissions or case management.
  • Familiarity with insurance verification processes and medical billing.
  • Bilingual abilities to support diverse patient populations.
  • Certification in medical office administration or patient access services.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage the patient admissions process from initial inquiry through enrollment.
  • Collect, verify, and maintain accurate patient information and required documentation in compliance with health care regulations.
  • Serve as a liaison between patients, families, and clinical teams to facilitate clear communication and address any questions or concerns.
  • Schedule and confirm appointments, assessments, and follow-up activities related to patient admissions.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of health care policies, insurance requirements, and facility procedures to provide accurate guidance to patients.

Skills:

The Admissions Specialist utilizes strong interpersonal and communication skills daily to interact effectively with patients, families, and clinical staff, ensuring clarity and empathy throughout the admissions process. Organizational skills are essential for managing multiple patient files, scheduling appointments, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. Proficiency with electronic health records and office software enables efficient data entry, retrieval, and reporting, which supports accurate patient documentation and billing processes. Problem-solving skills are applied when addressing patient concerns or resolving discrepancies in documentation or insurance information.
