At Larimer County Department of Human Services, we strive to be responsive and provide timely resources in partnership with our community so individuals and families are healthy, supported, and safe. We are seeking a highly motivated, innovative, enthusiastic and inclusive staff member to join our Benefits and Community Support Division as an Administrative Specialist.
In this role, you'll be part of our phone team, serving as the first point of contact for clients seeking information about public assistance programs such as Food Assistance, Medicaid, and Colorado Works. You'll answer a high volume of calls each day, delivering excellent customer service while providing general information and transferring calls to specialized technicians when needed. The work involves interacting with the public over the phone for extended periods and following a structured schedule that includes specific break and lunch times.
This is a hybrid position that requires at least one day per week in the office. You must have adequate internet access and a dedicated remote workspace. Larimer County provides an annual remote work stipend to help with equipment and office supply needs. The expected starting salary for this position is $22.29 per hour.
If you're organized, service-oriented, and thrive in a fast-paced team environment, we encourage you to apply!
What you'll be doing:
- Interpreting County and departmental policies, rules, and regulations in response to inquiries.
- Conducting necessary research and routing complex matters appropriately for further interpretation.
- Accepting and processing plans, specifications, forms, legal documents, applications, and other materials in line with legal and procedural requirements.
- Composing and preparing responses to various communications, particularly when information is factual or based on established policies and procedures.
- Entering and maintaining data in computer systems or databases; proofreading entries and correcting errors; generating standard reports as needed.
- Providing excellent customer service, particularly to clients via phone.
