Position Summary:
Trupanion is looking for a dynamic, energetic, and highly curious Accountant who will play a key role in the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations and analytics. As a critical member of a rapidly growing public company, this role will work collaboratively across the finance team to complete monthly close tasks and duties as well as cross-functional coordination among teams and departments. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of prioritizing and managing tasks and projects with competing deadlines, and a passion for process improvement. This is a hands-on position that will gain exposure to a variety of areas while helping the company to scale rapidly.

If you live in the greater Seattle area, you will have a hybrid remote/in-office schedule where you will work from our casual, pet-friendly office at least 3 days a week.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to monthly close in accordance with US GAAP to meet close, reporting, and filing timelines and ensure adherence to SOX requirements for related areas
- Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations in areas such as revenue, claims, and cash
- Work on ad-hoc special projects and analysis, including support for statutory reporting efforts
- Prepare internal and external deliverables for SEC reporting, quarterly reviews, and year-end audits
- Think critically and maintain an inquisitive mentality to recommend, implement, and document process improvements to promote efficiency and SOX compliance
Qualifications:
- BS/BA degree in Accounting or Finance preferred, equivalent experience accepted
- CPA preferred
- 2-3 years of accounting experience required
- Experience in a multi-entity environment is a plus
- Experienced with GAAP and financial statements, has the ability to understand technical accounting concepts and topics
Skills:
- Month-end close in a fast-paced and constantly evolving business environment and/or public accounting experience would be a plus
- Advanced knowledge of Excel, Workday experience a plus
- Strong analytical ability and detail oriented
- Desire to creatively problem-solve and innovate processes
Compensation:
- The pay range for this position is $68,000 - $80,000, on a full-time schedule.
- Along with base salary, Trupanion employees may be eligible for monthly bonuses.
- We want all employees to be invested in Trupanion's success, so we grant Restricted Stock Units to all new team members. Our new hire grants vest over 4 years.
