Your impact
The energy industry is undergoing rapid and dramatic changes, transforming the utility landscape to enhance safety, reliability and sustainability. In response, Jacobs is expanding its Transmission & Distribution (T&D) operations In North America and is looking for a Senior Drafter in its Energy & Power Group to tackle the complexities of decarbonization and utility modernization to deliver a cleaner and more secure energy future.
As a Senior Drafter, you will be working closely with our regional and global Transmission & Distribution (T&D) delivery teams to support our utility/developer clients and operations teams as we expand our energy transition portfolio.
Job Responsibilities & Requirements

Develop and maintain overhead transmission line drawings using AutoCAD, including:

Plan & profile sheets

Structure spotting and layout drawings

Alignment sheets and route maps
-
Foundation, access road, and right of way drawings
-
Structure details and assemblies
-
Interpret and accurately apply engineering redlines, sketches, calculations, and design criteria

Ensure drawings comply with client standards, utility specifications, and internal CAD guidelines

Support preparation of permit drawings, crossing exhibits, and as built documentation

Perform self-checks and peer reviews to ensure quality, accuracy, and consistency

Coordinate with engineers, designers, and project managers to resolve drafting and design issues

Maintain organized drawing files, layering standards, and document control practices

Assist with QA/QC reviews of drawings prepared by other team members

Participate in field visits or walk downs as needed to support design development

This role can sit at any of our Jacobs office locations, Nationwide
Here's what you'll need
- Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in Drafting, Design Technology, or Engineering Technology
- Minimum 4 years of drafting experience supporting overhead transmission line projects
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD (required)
- Strong understanding of overhead transmission line drafting practices
- Experience working with utility or consulting engineering environments
- Familiarity with industry standards such as NESC and utility design requirements
- Experience supporting design deliverables such as:
- Strong organizational, communication, and technical documentation skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Team oriented professional with strong interpersonal skills
Additional Notes
- Prior experience mentoring junior drafting staff is highly desirable
- Familiarity with document management systems or client CAD standards is a plus

92,600.00

The base salary range for this position is $92,600.00 to $121,575.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
