Job Description:
About Our Team
For over 50 years, LexisNexis Reed Technology has partnered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) to deliver secure, scalable, and high-quality patent data processing solutions. Our work transforms complex, unstructured patent submissions into standardized, searchable outputs that power examiner workflows and public dissemination.
We operate in a highly regulated environment with strict security requirements, large-scale data volumes, and complex business rules. Our focus is on modernizing legacy workflows through automation, AI, and platform transformation to improve efficiency, accuracy, and cost effectiveness.
About the Role
We are seeking a Product Manager II to lead modernization initiatives across patent data processing workflows spanning pre-grant and grant operations. This role will focus on improving operational efficiency, reducing manual effort, and enabling scalable automation across core processing pipelines using AI-native approaches.
You will own one or more strategic product areas and drive execution against a roadmap focused on measurable business outcomes, including productivity gains, workflow automation, quality improvement, and realized cost reduction. You will work closely with engineering, operations, finance, and data teams to identify automation opportunities, validate business hypotheses, and deliver solutions that improve both internal workflows and downstream customer value.
The ideal candidate combines strong product execution skills with analytical thinking, technical curiosity, and comfort operating in ambiguity. This role requires someone who can connect product decisions directly to operational and economic outcomes, not just feature delivery.
***Conditions of Employment:
-
You must be a U.S. citizen to apply for this position.
-
You must successfully pass a background investigation and achieve Public Trust security clearance.
-
Must be located near the Horsham, PA location for a hybrid onsite schedule.
Responsibilities
-
Own roadmap planning and execution for one or more workflow modernization initiatives.
-
Identify opportunities to reduce manual work and improve throughput across patent processing workflows.
-
Lead discovery and experimentation efforts focused on workflow automation, AI enablement, and operational efficiency.
-
Design and deliver automation solutions using AI, machine learning, LLMs, NLP, computer vision, and rules-based systems.
-
Partner with operations teams to understand real-world workflows and ensure solutions are usable, adopted, and impactful.
-
Define product requirements, success metrics, and operational acceptance criteria.
-
Maintain and prioritize backlog aligned to business goals, operational outcomes, and delivery capacity.
-
Analyze workflow, productivity, telemetry, and quality data to identify improvement opportunities and validate hypotheses.
-
Contribute to defining and validating the economic hypothesis for assigned product areas, including productivity improvement and cost reduction targets.
-
Work with Finance and Operations to ensure delivered capabilities translate into realized savings and operational impact.
-
Drive experimentation with agentic workflows and human-in-the-loop automation pipelines.
-
Engage with internal users and stakeholders to gather requirements, validate assumptions, and improve adoption.
-
Communicate roadmap progress, insights, risks, and business impact to stakeholders.
-
Participate in product discovery and contribute to future workflow modernization strategy.
Requirements
-
Product management or related experience.
-
Experience owning product initiatives from discovery through delivery and adoption.
-
Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret operational data and make trade-off decisions.
-
Experience working in Agile environments including backlog management, sprint execution, and roadmap planning.
-
Ability to translate ambiguous business problems into clear product requirements and measurable outcomes.
-
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
-
Comfortable working cross-functionally in complex operational environments.
Preferred Skills
-
Experience with workflow automation, enterprise platforms, or operational modernization initiatives.
-
Familiarity with AI/ML concepts including LLMs, NLP, computer vision, and agentic workflows.
-
Experience using AI productivity tools and AI-assisted workflows in day-to-day product management activities.
-
Experience working with data tools such as SQL, Python, Excel, Power BI, or Tableau.
-
Exposure to regulated environments or government contracting.
-
Familiarity with telemetry, operational metrics, and experimentation frameworks.
