Job Description:

Codeworks, an LRS company, is seeking a Senior Azure Cloud Architect who enjoys solving complex cloud challenges, building secure enterprise environments, and driving modernization initiatives that create measurable business value. This remote contract role will help design and implement scalable Azure solutions, establish governance standards, and support organizations operating in highly regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement enterprise Azure environments from the ground up, including governance, networking, security, and operational frameworks.
• Develop Azure landing zones, management groups, subscription strategies, and resource organization standards.
• Architect and support hub-and-spoke networking, hybrid cloud connectivity, and identity-centric cloud solutions.
• Design and manage Azure networking services including Virtual Networks (VNets), Subnets, VPN Gateways, ExpressRoute, Private Endpoints, Azure Firewall, DNS, and Network Security Groups (NSGs).
• Establish secure hybrid integrations between Azure and on-premises environments.
• Design and support Azure compute, storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Lead cloud governance, security, compliance, and infrastructure modernization initiatives.
• Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to develop cloud roadmaps, standards, and best practices.
• Troubleshoot complex cloud infrastructure, security, and networking issues.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to infrastructure and cloud engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale Azure environments.
• Strong knowledge of Azure management groups, subscriptions, resource organization, and governance frameworks.
• Experience designing Azure landing zones and cloud adoption strategies.
• Expertise in hybrid cloud architecture and identity-centric cloud design.
• Strong experience with Azure networking, including:
  • Hub-and-spoke architectures
  • Virtual Networks (VNets)
  • Subnets
  • VPN Gateways
  • ExpressRoute
  • Private Endpoints
  • Azure Firewall
  • Network Security Groups (NSGs)
  • DNS architecture
• Experience supporting hybrid connectivity between Azure and on-premises environments.
• Experience with Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Storage, Azure Backup, and Azure Site Recovery.
• Strong understanding of Azure security and compliance services, including:
  • Microsoft Defender for Cloud
  • Microsoft Sentinel
  • Azure Security Center controls
  • Azure Key Vault
  • Azure Policy
  • Compliance Manager
  • Secure Score
• Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks such as:
  • NIST 800-171
  • CMMC
  • ITAR
• Experience with cloud security hardening, remediation, and governance initiatives.
• Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently and drive strategic cloud initiatives.

• U.S. Citizenship is required due to the nature of the work and applicable federal regulations governing defense-related programs.

The following certifications are highly valued:

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305)
• Microsoft Certified: Cybersecurity Architect Expert (SC-100)

The base range for this contract position is $100.00 - $125.00 per hour, depending on experience. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all U.S. locations. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors.
