Job Description Summary

Work Location: This position can work in Washington DC, Vicksburg, MS; Huntsville, AL; Portland OR, or it can be by Remote.

The Task Manager should be able to respond quickly to operational project-related issues and initiatives that require project management oversight. Ensure that project management processes and procedures utilized on the program adhere to MAXIMUS policies, standards and systems. In addition, the Program Manager will also work closely with the other groups such as IT services, Contracts, Finance, Human Capital, Training, Quality, Security and others to ensure the delivery of integrated projects and programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plans, directs, provides guidance, controls and evaluates for the efficient and cost effective operations of the carrying out of the work efforts needed for one or more Tasks on the Program
  • Responsible for analysis, development, implementation, maintenance associated with one or more Tasks
  • If needed, ensures development of process documentation and training materials
  • Provides comprehensive communication with the assigned staff and with Program Management as to status
  • Ensures stable Task startup, ensues efficient operation and mitigates transition and operational risk
  • Works cooperatively with an independent quality management structure to ensure unbiased evaluation and reporting
  • Monitors progress in meeting goals and service level commitments and coordination with financial areas as needed to meet and enhance program goals

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience required; preferably in a technical field
  • Experience in government contracts
  • US Citizenship required
  • For some Tasks, a DoD Secret may be required; for other Tasks, will not be required
  • At least five (5) to eight (8) years of progressive management experience
  • Proven ability to deliver projects on-time and on-budget using industry accepted project management methodology
  • PMI certification preferred
  • Knowledge and experience of IT infrastructure or application development methods and standards and practices
  • Knowledge of and expertise in applying project management methodology, tools and techniques and software development methods and approaches and operational service delivery methods and practices. Working knowledge of and expertise in risk management, configuration management, disaster recovery and quality assurance
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects if needed
  • Experienced leadership skills, including delegation, motivation, negotiation, coaching, and conflict management
  • Mathematical, analytical, deductive reasoning, and problem solving aptitude
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Proven time management ability to exercise flexibility and judgment
  • Strong customer/client service focus

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide day to day management and guidance of team responsible for Exchange, Skype, AD, DNS, Identity Management, as well as other products supported by team
  • Coordinate required systems maintenance, patching, and monitoring
  • Implement corporate security practices/policies for all systems supported by team
  • Attend Meetings and provide status reports for ongoing projects
  • Guide direction of team to for multiple ongoing projects. Identify appropriate goals for team members to complete projects and develop team potential
  • Oversee O365 migration projects, as well as ongoing O365 operations
  • Maintain strong relationships with business stakeholders, peer groups and IT management
  • Work on complex integration projects involving hybrid O365 configuration, consolidation of Active Directory and DNS globally
  • Solution Support Activities


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience required; field of study in Computer Science preferred
  • At least five (5) years of experience in managing a Windows environment required
  • At least five (5) years of IT management experience in Messaging, Active Directory, or Skype for Business (Lync) required
  • At least five (5) years of experience in working with external clients and interfacing with external client’s management and technical support required
  • At least three (3) years of experience in managing a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Hands-on experience in supporting Exchange, AD, or Skype in a large Enterprise of over 30K users
  • MCSE, MCSA, ITIL Certification(s) is a plus
  • Experience in deploying Skype for Business PSTN conferencing preferred
  • Experience with O365 hybrid deployments and migrations preferred
