Apollo Executive Search was founded in 2016 by Peter Zeeuw van der Laan (former McKinsey, Rocket Internet, TU Delft) and Maarten van der Kwaak (former Roland Berger, INSEAD and founder of several other successful ventures). Apollo Executive Search helps investors and entrepreneurs hire top level people for their ventures. We have a focus on private equity portfolio companies and venture capital backed scale-ups.

We specialize in C-level roles at fast-growing, innovative technology companies. These roles are typically in the area of general management, finance, strategy, commercial, technology or operations across a broad number of industries. Recent searches include:

About 2/3rds of our team is currently living in the Netherlands (across geographies), about 1/3rd is working  in Thailand and Ukraine. Apollo currently does not have an office in the Netherlands and is completely organized remotely. The team currently includes about 10 people with acedemic and professional backgrounds at McKinsey, Harvard, INSEAD, Rocket Internet, Nato, L.E.K. and TU Delft.

Our company is growing rapidly, and we are looking to expand our team with talented people equipped to individually execute searches for C-level and other key positions.


As a Senior Executive Search Consultant, you will help tech startup/scaleup clients in finding and selecting the right candidates for leadership positions. You will work in close collaboration with one of the partners at Apollo, who bring in the search assignments and act as commercial leads. Most of our clients are based in the Netherlands but communicate via Zoom / phone

Your focus will be on leadership level (mostly C-level, MT-1 or similar key positions) executive search assignments for technology startups and scaleups with a focus on commercial positions (CCO/Sales Director), technology roles (CTO/VP of Tech/CPO/VP of Product/Data scientists/digital consultant) and various roles for early stage startups (e.g,. Head of Operations, Head of Finance). Our typical client industries include B2B SaaS, eCommerce, fintech, MedTech, hardware, sustainability and energy.

More specifically, you will:

  • Deliver upon the client needs:
    • Translate client briefing to candidate profile and search strategies
    • Work with our research associates to compose a strong, thorough longlist of potential candidates. Manage research resources for optimal results
    • Reach out to potential candidates and interview them for the position
    • Provide recommendations to our clients on the most relevant candidates
    • Work with the client and selected candidates until the search is completed
  • Increasingly, you will leverage existing expertise and relationships:
    • Build expertise to advise our clients on how best to translate their business opportunities / challenges into relevant roles and discuss how different candidate profiles would fit. For this you need to build expertise across different (tech) industries, functions and seniority levels
    • Build a pool of strong, relevant candidates. Build and leverage relationships with these candidates
  • Together with the partners and the rest of Apollo, continuously improve our executive search process to deliver on client needs. For this, you can leverage our existing infrastructure (e.g., research department, online platforms, database) and contribute to new /improved ways of working via our structural operational excellence meetings
  • Identify and execute initiatives to build thought leadership on C-level roles for tech startups
  • Not required: Over time play an active role in the acquisition of new clients via either client relationship building and / or content development


  • University degree
  • Excellent English language skills
  • Professional experience with technology startups is a prerequisite
  • 8 or more years of work experience. We are open to diverse backgrounds

  • Experience
  • We are open to various backgrounds, but are specifically interested in:
    • Consulting experience at an internationally recognized consulting company
    • Executive search experience at an internationally recognized executive search firm
    • Experience in the technology domain
  • Full time position, completely remote
  • Able to work (mostly) in Amsterdam time zone. Indication:
    • Flexible to speak to clients and candidates during Dutch working hours, particularly in the afternoon (16.00-18.00)
    • At least available 6 hours between 09:00 and 18:30 


  • Invoicing via freelance setup (but looking for a long term engagement)
  • Total package indication: Commensurate on experience, base and on target bonus between 50,000 -80,000 EUR a years (gross, incl. expenses, pension, potential bonus/commission)
  • 23 holidays a year
