Registry Support Specialist

Location: Remote

Summary: Entry level position assisting cancer information specialists by conducting case-finding and follow-up. These duties help to ensure continued medical surveillance and monitoring of the health status of patients. They are essential in evaluating the outcomes of cancer care. Experience in the Cancer Registry preferred

Essential Functions:

  1. Monitor and obtain patient outcome (follow-up) information, including but not limited to, disease status and/or recurrence
  2. Professionally interacts with facility departments and medical organizations building relationships with the appropriate staff in order to complete follow-up tasks
  3. Comply with Commission on Cancer Standards 5.3 and 5.4 ensuring follow-up percentages are compliant on a monthly basis
  4. Provide required weekly, monthly, and/or quarterly reporting to appropriate personnel (i.e. work logs, timecards, registry status reports, etc)
  5. Responsible for correspondence needed with physicians’ offices or other hospitals via phone, mail or fax for patients last date of contact
  6. Work closely with the Oncology team participating in trainings, team meetings, etc.
  7. Utilizing available resources (SSDI, funeral websites and obituaries) to confirm status of patient if deceased
  8. Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  1. Proficiency in Microsoft products, experience with at least one registry software preferred
  2. Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with both internal and external customers to the organization
  3. Ability to interface well with all departments of the company and to represent CHA in a highly professional manner
  4. Handles confidential and proprietary information
  5. Takes initiative and demonstrates resourcefulness
  6. Ability to work well as a team member while demonstrating and promoting corporate initiatives
  7. Ensure follow-up is accurate and precise
  8. Demonstrates strong organizational, research and time management skills

Training and Experience

  1. High school diploma/equivalent required. Associates degree preferred with 1-2 years of experience in a professional setting
  2. Experience in the Cancer Registry preferred
