Optum Nurse Line is a 24/7 inbound call center.

Training, regardless of schedule, will be a full 40 hours per week for approximately 4 – 6 weeks, during regular business hours, 9am – 5pm EST and during your assigned shift.

Below are the schedules available and Flex Hours policies. The schedules are firm and not negotiable.

Full Time Flex (Flex Hours):

  • Will be considered a full-time employee
  • Will be scheduled 40 hours per week during training
  • Will be scheduled up to 45 hours per week during peak need periods
  • Will be scheduled no less than 35 hours per week, during non-peak periods
  • Will be scheduled in increments of up to one hour more or less per day than standard schedule

Primary Responsibilities:

  • We are an inbound call center open 24/7, including holidays
  • Assesses and triages immediate health concerns
  • Identifies problems or gaps in care offering opportunity for intervention
  • Coordinates services and referrals to health programs
  • Provides health education and coaches consumers on treatment alternatives to assist them in best decision making
  • Supports consumers in selection of best physician and facility to maximize access, quality, and to manage heath care cost
  • Prepares individuals for physician visits
  • Manages utilization through education
  • Special projects, initiatives, and other job duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Active, unrestricted RN license in the state of residence
  • Multiple state licensure (in addition to Compact License if applicable) or ability to obtain multiple state nursing licenses
  • 3+ years of experience in any clinical setting
  • Proficient level of experience with Microsoft Office applications, and strong technical aptitude
  • Ability to work 8 hour shifts with a two week rotation schedule – Flex shifts
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week Monday – Friday during daytime hours for first 4 – 6 weeks for training and precepting
  • Access to high speed DSL or cable internet along with a home office

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CA RN license
  • Bilingual Spanish
  • Previous experience working with the geriatric population
  • Home health experience
  • Triage experience
  • Case management experience
  • Previous customer service experience
  • Previous experience in a telephonic case management role
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized, self-directed worker with an ability to function in high volume environment
