What You Need to Do:
This position of Lead Writer/Editor will be responsible for the management of a team of writers as well as concepting, writing, and editing product marketing materials, email content, infographic content, social posts, and multimedia scripts to expand awareness of the brand and our products, connect with clients, and generate leads. Your responsibilities span from understanding our Wealth + Health brand, to successfully writing content as assigned, to reviewing writers’ work for brand and product positioning and accuracy of Transamerica content across all channels and platforms, to collaborating with our Channel strategy partners. You will work closely with our Marketing Directors, the writing team, design partners, and channel marketing teams to implement our Wealth + Health positioning, value-add, content strategy, writing, and editing — down to our individual product level.

You will be working with a team of highly creative professionals who bring fresh ideas and diverse perspectives to help us shake up the status quo and stay on the forefront of reinventing how our Wealth + Health brand can profoundly impact a person’s future.
What Success Looks Like:
This role requires the ability to roll up your sleeves and craft narratives emphasizing our brand message within the Employee Benefits and Retirement product lines, as well as the review and editing of other writers’ work. You will become a subject matter expert in your assigned channels and oversee the assignments and quality of content of your writing team. We need you to be an agent for collaboration, advocating for and managing relational activities with a wide range of key stakeholders including sales, compliance, the broader marketing team, and related business partners.
What You Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, advertising, journalism, English, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Eight years of professional writing experience using traditional and digital formats.
- Two years of experience in the financial industry.
- In-depth knowledge of digital content best practices and content management systems (CMS).
- Advanced copywriting and editing skills across a range of media (e.g. web, print, video, presentations) and writing styles from conceptual to journalistic.
- Creative thinker able to turn concepts into robust messaging.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet critical deadlines.
- Relationship building skills to assimilate ideas in collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
- Interpersonal skills to mentor/coach junior staff.
